Considering the classic Mini was made in the UK, and Rover did consider fitting the Rover K series engine into the classic Mini (project Minki) I cannot believe you missed off the most popular engine conversion going. :(

i once saw a mini clubman with a front mounted opel omega v6 and rwd using a reliant axle. the work was brilliant. never got to see it in action.

Can't wait to see that thing fire up. With all the tuning they've done on it, it'll surely be putting down 300bhp with little effort. And possibly up to 400 if they decide to crank the boost up. I used to own a 205 GT-Four so I know that engine can take it, so it's entirely possible. And with the 4wd, my god it'll be a dream! haha!

Seeing these are the reason I'm considering moving back to England. I've been planning some project cars over in Aus where I'm living now and the rules are just too strict here. None of these would be road legal without some SERIOUS paperwork and months of bureaucracy, and that's if you're lucky in the first place. But in England you can more or less do whatever you want, as long as it passes the annual check, which is basically just to make sure the wheels won't fall off, you're good :P

In the day my 997 Cooper, with Piper head and cam, Weber 45 carbs, straight cut close ratio gearbox was 100 bhp on the rolling road.

the KAD twin cam is not an engine swap, its a 16v crossflow head designed for the A series block.

I did a B16A swap a few years ago. Love it. Put 500 miles on it in the last couple days. Torque steer if you really stomp it.

Thank you very much! You are a nice person, who just want to help for others. This video was helpful for me. Accord 03 year 2.4 engine (right hand steering). Earlier my abs sensor turned to mad, and the abs, a triangle and the vsa light came up. We have swapped the sensor, the abs light gone, but the yellow triangle stand on without the vsa. The vsa button hasn't worked and the vsa light came up about 5 mins later. Every start was the same. I just want to sell my car, but obviously I couldn't because of this light think. I did everything step by step following this video and the problem was sorted at the end. Big-Big thanks. :)

Am intrigued by the more usable Nissan CG/CR Mini conversions (especially given Nissan's historical links with Austin) as well as the Toyota KR unit due to the latter being extremely light at 69kg (in spite of the Daihatsu KF weighing at 47kg and the Suzuki R weighing around 52-56.7kg respectively), though wonder whether it is possible to fit 1149cc Renault D-Type or 1380-1598cc K-Type engines into a Mini?

You have to look up the monster mini from Australia, it has a v8 with a huge blower on it

@@lomasclan there was also the Buick engined conversion. Tread on the hard peddle to fiercely and the torque would twist you off the track!

The most "respectable" swap is the metro turbo engine since it went in easy since it the same motor, you just had to work a bit of space for the turbo.

JAMES Live I've gotta 1980 clubman estate currently has a 1098cc manual, plan is to drop either a b16a2 or b18c4 engine in there, got most of the conversion understood just need to gather parts for it now! Good luck with yours!

K swap to give reliability but plenty of power to weight plus you get the buffet of bolt one associated with honda

We're just gonna forget about MCM's classic JDM mini cooper Honda swap? That's a true sleeper and they needed a custom subframe to fit! You call this a must see list. Pshhh

All engine converted Minis need a custom subframe... They bought a kit and bolted it together, it wasn't anything special.

Too bad. The engine swaps are obviously big even Hayabusa engine. No one has ever fitted a small 2 or 3 cyl engine swap taken from JDM Kei cars like Suzuki Alto or Daihatsu Mira.

Usually dyno at 125-135hp at the wheels, 150-160hp at the crank.

@@crispincurtis8585 yeah! Seen a lot with the r1 engine that have been stripped down to about 500kg, and they move! 13.2sec 1/4mile which is pretty good. Track work is where they are best though.

The main theme from this video is excessive speed in built up areas that is more appropriate for the race track than public roads in fact the 2nd mini starting at 01.10 overtook a large goods vehicle totally blind and drove across hazard lines in order to make the manoeuvre. I have to wonder how many of these mini owners actually told their insurance companies of the modifications. What they also forget is a 40 yr old car is normal exempt from British MOT and road tax but if it has been heavily modified these exemptions no longer apply. Google it, its plain enough to see.
