The build up is what also made "Poor Unfortunate Souls" such a memorable Villain Song. It begins slow and calm, almost like a waltz. Then it begins to get crazy as the tempo picks up. The more faster the song gets, the more intense the atmosphere and decisions become.

My favourite villain song is 100% Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is so different from other Disney villain songs, it’s so dark and shows how his mind is so conflicting and extreme

every charecter has a certian 'beuty' limit of the song, thus for a hero its spread thinly for multiple songs but villians can put it 100% in one banger song

Tim Curry is one of the best Villian actors ever, a true legend

Hellfire and Friends on the other side are my faves. Especially Hellfire I don't know how Disney got away with such a pervy evil old man. They were so much bolder before the 2000's.

thats becuase it was before many woke movements(no offense to anyone) and disney had so many poeple that would make a potential fuss(lgbtiq femminsts down syndromes and autistics again no offensre) so the limit was a lot

"In the Dark of the Night" from "Anastasia" is such a catchy villain song. Doc Brown's Christopher Lloyd brought so much rhythm and depth in the song that it became the best non Disney villain song. Well, it was at the time since they own Fox now.

Can’t go wrong with Tim Curry. But what about the legendary Vincent Price? When I was a kid watching Disney’s The Greatest Mouse Detective, his villain song was actually full of villain charm and class. Didn’t care it was underrated at that time, I still love the movie

I instantly thought of In The Dark Of The Night from Anastasia. It always ends up stuck in my head for weeks. Little disappointed it wasn't there, but the ones that are there are all amazing too.

I'd add Anastasia's 'In the dark of Night' to this list, and Hell fire from the Hunchback of Notre dam.

I don't know if it's technically a villian song because he redemmed himself by the movie's end but the once-ler's song "how bad can I be" from The Lorax is super catchy!

Check out the "Mr.Grinch" song from the original animated special " How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Stylistically it's kind of a precursor to a few of these and it's pretty clever to boot.

OMG, I ❤️ “Toxic Love”. It’s my favorite Ferngully song, even more than “Batty’s Rap”….but I didn’t remember the movie to be so old - I thought it was a couple years younger, 1995 or 1996. I would’ve scored a tie and put both “Poor Unfortunate Soul” and “Be Prepared” on top spot….as they’re equally top iconic. 🔥💖

I don't know if Thenardiers from Les Miserable don't count, but, their song "Master of the House" is incredibly catchy, and it's considered a welcome reprieve in between all the soul crushing moments before and after it.

Ah, I think you'll find that Gospel Truth Part II is the equivalent in Hercules, even if, like "One Hundred and One Dalmatians", it is sung from a protagonist (or chorus)'s perspective. "My Lullaby" is the villain song in The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, released in 1998 (even if this is a direct to video sequel). However, yes, because Disney went away from the musical style to structure the narrative through much of the 2000s, "The Princess and the Frog" is where it picks back up. But yeah, I just wanted to point that out, even as a video release.

I say Hellfire and In the dark of the night. They should be on here. Also, My Lullaby is good. I forgot all about Toxic Love, so very good.

@@lindildeev5721 I have seen Jim Carey’s version, but it just doesn’t seem my favorite speciality. I was born in the 90s way before that film came out. So Karloff’s version is a classic!

I am very disappointed that Frollo's song, "Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, was not included in the upper half of the list, preferably as No..1. Disney has never created a more evil villain, nor a more fabulously bone-chilling song. Not even an honorable mention? Sad!

AGREED. No one could EVER replace Tony Jay's chilling performance as Frollo. and HoND is a VERY underrated film that needs more spotlights!!!

Another catchy Tim Curry villain song that deserved a mention - A Professional Pirate from Muppet Treasure Island.

'Friends on the Other Side' should have been higher on the list, in my opinion. I mean, sung by KEITH DAVID! Come on! And with another comment down below, I agree that 'In the Dark of the Night' should have been on the list as well; some of the visuals is the stuff of nightmares (especially when you're dealing with a corpse literally falling apart waiting for his curse to be finalized) Although one other addition I have to mention: 'Hellfire' from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. That song is - I think - one of the pinnacles of villain masterpieces. Tony Jay did a fantastical job as Frollo, considering he was dealing with his *cough*duty*cough* to do good by the Church/God, and yet smitten by some dancing girl and trying to 'solve' the issue. Also, the Latin chorals are amazing.

Tim Curry’s voice is so delicious.🎶😌

Who doesn't love to sing like a villian sometimes? It's just fun to sing to a catchy song.

All of these villain songs are just as catchy as any hero songs. I’d also agree that “Hellfire” & “In The Dark Of The Knight” should’ve been on this list or at least given honorable mentions. Please make another list regarding this topic & include at least 4 or 5 honorable mentions, plus “Hellfire” & “In The Dark Of The Knight” as well, before mashing them up into a top 20 list with another 4 or 5 honorable mentions. Make it happen, Ms. Mojo.

Man, watching it in theaters was such an intense experience. Like literally once the beat drops, the entire theater just BOOMS, and everyone in that theater had the same expression as the characters at that point 😭 it’s not the same on phone or tv, it was so powerful and compelling

I was searching for this comment! VoicePlay actually has sung half the songs on this list: they've done 5 of the top 10 and 3 of the 5 honorable mentions. I literally CANNOT hear the original Oogie Boogie's Song without hearing Geoff's voice in my head. Or his version of Poor Unfortunate Souls, for that matter, and his insane 4 octave slide at the end. I love them so much.

I love in the dark of the night but this is a great list!

Last Midnight should be ranked higher. Great list otherwise. Please do a top 10 list of Stephen Sondheim songs. He passed away this weekend.

Shiny was my favourite song when i was younger. I couldnt stop listening to it

I admit there were a lot of great villain songs in this list, but many that were left out too. I'm glad that Into the Woods was mentioned because I love that song as well. But I feel like many Disney songs were left out that were memorable too. Like Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective, My Lullaby from Pride Rock also was a great villain song in my opinion, Savages and Mine, Mine, Mine from Pocahontas was also very chilling and telling. Not your typical villainous song but I like "Youve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two" or "I'm Reviewing the Situation" by Fagin (Ron Moody) from Oliver!

I immediately thought about “we don’t talk about Bruno” from Encanto. Even if it isn’t technically a villain song it’s certainly treated as such, plus it freakin slaps
