Initial D 1st stage holds a special memories in my heart, it's the anime that got me and my brothers into cars. It deserve it's number 1 spot 😊😊😊

Literally the only reason I don’t watch it is bc the fifth stage onwards isn’t on any legal streaming service. Do I need to watch the fifth stage onward, or is it okay just stopping at the fourth?

In every youtube channel that make video about anime racing genre, initial D is still in the top list.. I cant wait to see MF ghost in 2023 to see another racing anime after long time

I've seen the whole thing 2 months ago and beat the 2nd game, definitely recommend it to every racing fan!

I can’t wait for MF Ghost coming later this year so many newer anime fans are going to experience the greatness that is Initial D 2.0….. it better have Eurobeat music or I’ll lose my shit.

MechaDoc (short for Mechanic Doctor) was another anime concerning Racing and Tuning at the same time, sad that it never went overseas or heard of it I knew that show from playing Drift Spirits from their Collaboration events befrore I can agree much of your Top 10 racing anime known outside from japan

Redline is by far my favorite anime movie. But it gets sidetracked and wild real quick. but initial d has so much more to it tbh. having it being based mostly in reality adds to its appeal immensely. Gotta have it at number 1. With wangan midnight at a nice second.

Wangan midnight got me into anime

AI never runs wild. AI just uses data from corner case scenarios that have no data. So if a corner case is triggered, it will decide with the available data set. One example is a bike attached to the back of the car in front. AI can see both and will extrapolate trajectories of both, unless you input data of those two attached so AI considers them as a single entity. Ai may confuse a billboard design with traffic lights and stop in unlikely places, or not recognize a container as an obstacle in the street and crash. It is not AI running wild, it is AI doing exactly what it was programmed to do in the absence of corner case data.

There was anime in 90's about different side of racing, a car mechanic trying his luck in F1, coming up with various unorthodox wasy to give is team extra edge, like 8 wheels setup or adjustable downforce. For life of me can't remember name, though.

Future gpx cyber formula...would like to see that as well as tailenders

Disappointed that the original GATTAIGER series from the '70's was not even given an honorable mention. It made SPEED RACER look like the Little Red Wagon!

I'd honestly say Wangan Midnight is the best one. Initial D is indeed pretty enjoyable shounen, but it has numerous pacing issues and the writing becomes rather cheesy when it tries to add some meat to it. It's fun, but still basic shounen with its melodrama and simple approach to topics Wangan Midnight meanwhile treats the characters more seriously, giving a proper inspection on these people who are driven to race for one reason or another. Street racing is like a symptom of many issues, an escape for many and a passion for few. No one pretends it isn't stupid, that there are some prestigious battles between street racers or something. It's just people chasing something or running away from something, using it as a way to express themselves or to hide from themselves. The actual races indeed having nothing on Initial D's battle shounen fun, but that's because Wangan is far more grounded and people focused, while Initial D is all about the fantasy of street racing battles.

Even though it was car racing cartoon list, I was hoping to see oban star racers in this list..

The cars in Initial D are the real cars from BestMotoring Hot vesion and thank you tight work😊😎👍

Only watched Initial D and Wangan Midnight and will watch MF Ghost and HI-Drivers as they involve real cars

eX Driver and Yoroshuku MechaDoc would be great. Your nephew would learn a lot about mechanical stuffs from MechaDoc and eX Driver is incredibly enjoyably (Despite being too short, its a tragedy that the manga was never translated to English)

You only spoke about the TV series, Sin is one the 4 OVAs that came after. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed that you didn't go into much detail about the full series. Then again, that also tells me you didn't do the same for any of the others, so...

Technically Oban wasn't an anime, it was a french production (fun fact, the guy who created it was a descendant of the man who made the Eiffel Tower) Also, it didn't involve "cars". I do agree though that Oban Star Racers was an incredible racing series. The creator has hinted at possibly doing a follow up to it, and has teased some artwork, but as of yet, nothing concrete has come about.

does anyone remember an anime about toy RC cars that wasn’t that old, maybe 2000’s?? the main character had to battle in some hotweelks type of track and he had to change parts like add chains to the wheels in snowy tracks, i believe the cars had powers too like beyblade

Initial D is done, buutttt. There is a sequel to Initial D. It's called MF Ghost, trailers for it are out and it releases sometime this year. It has a few characters from Initial D there . Go read the manga

The author is Noboru Rokuda (Dash Kappei). I suggest you to read the manga, as the anime (even if I like it) is not so good.
