    THANK YOU!!! I was already worried when they mentioned a movie was coming out and then MASSIVELY disappointed once I saw it. It’s like they didn’t even read the book and it was way too rushed. So much potential wasted. Same with Ender’s Game. They missed the whole point of the book.

    Actually, they shot a lot of those scenes, but the studio cut it out. They DID shoot the entirety of the ending. There are even bits of it in the original theatrical trailer, with completed VFX. There are also many scenes of Lyra's time with the Gyptians on the sea that was filmed but just cut! It's said in some blog online that most of what made the story human and emotional was basically cut.

    @@rachelc4023 actually, I found the twilight books a whole lot better than the movies. The movies didn't do the books justice and should be on this list in The Lovely Bone's place. TLB is one of the few movies that really made me cry. I could really see myself in the character and I found it done extremely well. I typically don't watch movies like it either. The Lovely Bones????? My opinion: I saw the movie and then read the novel which is great for me considering the visual that the movie has helped imagine what Susie's "heaven" looks like in the book. Yes, the movie left A LOT of stuffs on the book but one thing that I liked on the movie is Susie's progression from the time she was murdered to the time she spent on the in-between and finally letting go and going to THE heaven, which something I never got in the book because there's a lot of things that are happening to her and her family at the same time. That's my take.

    I think that Twilight might have made a good tv show since then they could have added a lot more detail from the books and things that had importance in the books could have seemed just as important on screen. But I'm also the type that hated many of the harry potter movies because they left a lot out and literally would have preferred they made a 9 hour movie with everything in it than what they ended up with.

    Okay, I loved the novel, truly my favorite literature work ever, I’ve also been a great literature analyzer, the 2013 movie was beautiful and conveyed the imagery F Scott Fitzgerald used in his book beautifully, but the themes of the illusion of the American Dream, and the deterioration of Jay’s armor and the reflection of Jays mansion and his true self, simply did not make its way onto the screen. I myself liked the movie but felt it was a poorly pieced interpretation of the book. That is why the movie received as much disapproval as it did. Because it came from most of the people who actually read the novel before the film.

Once again the movie had a great cast with Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, and Brenton Thwaites, but the movie's plot was so different from Lois Lowry's book that the second half of it might as well have been based on a totally different book. I mean, movies like 2001, Mullholland Drive (hell, David Lynch's entire filmography) or recently, High Life, all are very confusing but they are good movies (not saying that Cloud Atlas is as good as 2001, just that being confusing doesn't mean it's bad)

  • @makinapacal

    @makinapacal

    5 жыл бұрын

    Didn't say that. What I said is no one should be surprised that a bad novel became a bad movie. A different thing. After all some times a bad novel can be and is made into a great movie. A classic example being Gone with the Wind, a shitty novel was made into a great movie. And of course a great novel can be made into a terrible movie. The classic case being the various movie versions of Anna Karenina most of which are garbage.And of course I don't care if they adapt some literary work into a movie or not they are perfectly free to do so and if they manage to turn shit into gold in the process more power to them!! What I am saying is that bad source material makes it more difficult to make a good, let alone great, adaption of the work in another medium. The Da Vinci Code is a classic example of bad source material, inane plot, bad writing combined to make crap. That the movie turned out badly should not be a surprise.

    @@taylorrogers4064 My little sister was obbsessed with the books too like she has read the spin off series ( i still need to read those) anyway she went and saw the film and told me it was so shit and that is why i never went and saw the film. It kinda annoys me cause i thought it was a better book series than twilight.

    World War Z is a way worse film that Watchmen OR Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. World War Z used only the book's title and NONE of the actual plot of the book, shifted the location of the initial attack, and abandoned the format of the book, so how is it ONLY an HONORABLE MENTION when the two other films stayed truer to their source material?

    I would've loved it if they used the format of the book for World War Z. How awesome would it have been to see the survivors accounts depicted on screen?

    Sorry, but I really have to disagree about "Cloud Atlas;" I thought that the film adaptation was incredible and it made a huge personal impact on me, and it's become one of my all-time favorite movies (even if some of the makeup occasionally does look a bit janky).

    Include Eragon, the movie killed off characters wrong and left out people who later have major roles. It just felt like they cut off half the book.

    "Is it too pretentious to say Watchmen is too complex to be made into a movie?" Yes, absolutely. With the right director and vision, there's no doubt in my mind we could get an incredible adaptation out of it. Comic-to-film is almost always better than book-to-film because both are visual mediums, and Watchmen benefits from being one self-contained story (not counting the expanded material that isn't associated with Alan Moore). Zack Snyder was just not the right choice. Get someone who will treat it as a STORY first, comic book adaptation second, and it could definitely be done.

    I watched this in the theatre after I lost my 16 month old thinking it would help my grief. It was very similar to the book I read when it first came out, way before my daughter was thought of. This movie tore me up bcuz it was real life. There were times I needed to walk out due to my crying. This movie also helped reaffirm my belief of crossing over.
