It's easily one of our favorites. One of those games that plays well for people who game a lot and we find it's really easy to teach new players as well. Although it helps that we've played it a ton.
I would encourage you to try Munchkin again but with the Fast Play rules. It doesn't make the game any faster but does make it much more enjoyable. Less top-decking and helplessly being in a bad position. The minor changes actually allow you to have a lot more meaningful choices over the course of the game. It is so much rarer for someone to have a game where they just suffer constantly despite still being a 'take that' game. I don't recommend playing with more than 4 people ever. It'll make the game too long for what it is.
