I highly recommend New Retro Arcade (available on Steam). It's an 80s style virtual arcade that uses LibRetro to display ROMs on the actual in-game arcade cabinets. You can customise the arcade cabinets with your own art/emulators/roms, and also play a couple of physics based minigames (bowling and arcade basketball).

Ok, I'll give it cheats and radio. It's got great cheats (flying cars and jetpack are my favorite) and the music was top notch (still no straight outta Compton though). As for story, i personally didn't like it. Carl wasn't as engaging as other rockstar protagonists.

My local game store has a whole section called "The Warp Zone" thats ONLY arcade cabinets. Best. Game store. Ever.

No mention of Shenmue or Yakuza, which also had arcade games.

***** I see. I think what helped me through my Shenmue experience was that I had bought a strategy guide to go with it, which made it easier and I was able to progress through. The arcade place isn't too hard to reach though.

Thank you Jeff, keep being yourself and doing your videos however you want. You could do a top 9 video with only 8 entries and in no particular order and I'd still enjoy it!

I'm kind of surprised that LEGO Dimensions wasn't on this list as one of the level packs is Midway Arcade, in which you're goal is to clear out a haunted arcade by playing classic arcade games like Gauntlet and Rampage to name a few with several other arcade classics in various levels and Adventure Worlds.

There's still arcades somewhere in America? I must find these holy grounds.

There's a few arcades that I know of in the PNW. Dorky's in Tacoma, WA, Ground Kontrol in Portland, OR, and a new arcade in Bremerton, WA that I can't remember the name of atm

The largest arcade in America is the Galloping Ghost, $15 for unlimited plays on any cabinet in there. You will definitely get your moneys worth compared to if you spent quarters on every play.

One of my favorite video game arcades is in Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. You get to play an arcade machine that has you moving blocks around as a Pyro Jack. Not only is the game pretty fun and challenging with a lot to offer, but you get a REALLY awesome reward for beating it.

You perfectly summed up my feelings on Splatoon, haha

Awesome video, Jeff. I never knew about Anarchy Arcade. That's pretty cool.

I know this vids nearing its first birthday, but I think one of my favorite in game arcades is from Pacman World 2. All the titles are old Pacman games and you unlock more as you progress, but they are a ton of fun, including a Dr. Mario/Tetris type one that I probably put 15+ hours into just on its own.

I'm so early that nobody has watched the full video yet.

I have never heard of anything so meta, not even Deadpool could compete with Anarchy Arcade lol

The Yakuza series has some really good arcade games. Rumor has it that Yakuza 6 (currently Japan only) will have Virtua Fighter 5, a PS3 game, as a fully playable game. All of the Yakuza games have loads of mini games that are surprisingly, very fun. Nice Vid!

LEGO Dimensions Midway Arcade, and any of the Namco Museum PSOne titles (1-3 especially). Granted, the latter are technically "museums," but you still have to interact with coin-op machines to play the games.

Oh damn! Beavis and Butthead on the SNES was one of my favorite childhood games. It's nice to see it on this list. :D

Why is it the better arcades are lower in the list than the ones at the top? They seem better imo

I think the DK one is above the Animal Crossing one due to the time when the games were released, along with the fact that the Animal Crossing one is one you have to make. Still, a few of them seem like they are in the wrong spot

Pac-Man World 2 had an arcade with like four different games. As you progressed through the game and collected more tokens, you unlocked new games to play. The original Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Attack and Pac-Mania. With that Pac-Man World Rally music playing during the countdown, I almost suspected it would be here!

Does anyone else agree that the Art Corner music is amazing? Congrats to whoever made it.

Back in the day, I sometimes would turn on my PS2 and load Bully just to play Consumo. I found it awkwardly fun and satisfying.

You used fantasy life music. Yay! don't know why I'm so excited about that.

Yakuza 5 has actual SEGA arcades in it. You can literally walk in and play a complete version of Virtua Fighter among a few others. Hell, the game itself has a bunch of ridiculously awesome mini-games, too. It's also free right now.

The moment I saw Anarchy Arcade, I instantly got hooked.

Not a lie, Beavis and Butthead actually had a music video in every episode that you would watch with them commentating it.

I can't tell if all those weeds really DID grow there, or he somehow put them all there. Still a good video ;-)

Where did you get that shovel knight poster in the beginning?

I know of an obscure arcade in video games. In the sixth installment of Sierra's space comedy adventure series Space Quest, you find an arcade in the first segment of the game. There you can play a parody of Street Fighter called Stooge Fighter 3. It's Street Fighter with the 3 Stooges as the playable characters. Unfortunately the game is impossible to win at without obtaining the cheat code obtained in the plot!
