TF2: 100 Days of Spy

Ойындар

Severely mentally ill content creator loses his mind playing the weakest class in TF2 for 100 days straight and documents the process for your viewing entertainment.
It would be criminal not to acknowledge the influence of @LukeTheNotable for popularising the 100 day format, and of course my good friend @zenithzv and his 30 days series with classes in TF2.
A big thanks for @monki_lol for his fantastic animations, to @Fitz and @Octoooo for their beautiful voice over work and to @Jauntyweb for a great thumbnail as always.

Despite playing Medic for half a dozen seasons of UGC highlander, spy is my most played class by a significant margin. And for most of that, I was that Kunai/Dead Ringer/Ambassador asshole. I even started carrying around a pocket watch and butterfly knife in college. Christ I was an ass.

I’m really happy to hear it helped! This is actually the first comment that’s gotten my attention in a while and it means a lot. Unfortunately the Sniper video is quite a ways off, but I’m shooting to have it out before July. A lot more animation, better written, better edited…basically just a big leap in quality. Licensing copyrighted music for it too! Anyway, you are the only person who gets to know how far off the Sniper vid is because you wrote such a nice comment.

An hour in right as part IV starts, but wanted to say thank you - I used to play TF2 like you wouldn't understand from 2012 until around 2019, then was on and off for the next two years on the game before quitting "for good", but this brought back memories of when I was first getting into the game, getting rolled, but getting on every evening after school to get better at Sniper, which led to wanting to get better at the other classes and then move into the game competitively. This video is getting me excited to play the game again, so cheers mate. EDIT: RIP to your fan, mate.

About the Red Tape Recorder. I found the best use is against multiple engi nests where you know that you can't kill and sap them all. Especially in a hot zone, where your team and the nest are clashing constantly. In those situations, a normal sapper would only deal some health damage, but the red-tape delevels the buildings, makes them weaker, and takes more resources to build up again, especially when they are simultaneously under constant attack and in need of repair. The tactic is to go in, sap as much as you can, and ringer out, rinse, and repeat in coordination with your team's pressure. In those scenarios does the Red Tape Recorder shine. Thank you for that amazing in-depth video and all the joy and content you create!

TF2's lost much of its quality over the past few years. The community is extremely obnoxious and with a superiority complex and elitist caste system based on who is the biggest loser with the most money spent on hats and time wasted in front of their PCs, most weapons are but shadows of their former selves due to insanely bad and stupid rebalances and nerfs, Meet Your Match killed the game, every update breaks something in the game, the only meaningful attention it gets from devs is to flood the shitty overrated overpriced cosmetics lootbox casino with more hats for the insecure small dick playerbase, there's a tendency to gatekeep new players solely because they don't own cosmetics (lmao), the anti-cheat (VAC) literally does not work, bots are a real problem that they refuse to fix, and the entire game's code is expired spaghetti held together by duct tape. But it still has a lot of personality and synergy between its classes, the community-made content in the server browser is amazing and you have some of the most variety in playing the same game over and over and over again with stuff like Class Wars, 100% Crits, VSH, Deathrun, Dodgeball, Randomizer, x10, Balloon Race and many others. It is an experience unlike any other when you get it right. It's worth a try at least once!

One thing, that i feel like is almost a memory hole of TF2 history, with the Red-tape recorder is how insanely OP it was some time around its release. Like, it would delevel so fast that if you were not already hitting your sentry or had a pyro sitting right next to it with a homewrecker, it would always go down to level 2, and if the spy slightly harasses you, or you are a little far, it would bring it to a level 1. When it was nerfed it was a great thing, but the state it is in now, and how people refer to it... is just kinda wild ya know? Also that Rachet and Clank music just brought forth so many good childhood memories. Like bro, i was not ready for it... to the point i had to restart the section once i actually heard the music.

Another thing you can do as a Spy main is memorize who is a "healthpack" and who isn't on Highlander. Good airblasting pyro on enemy team? Avoid like the plague. Barely competent sniper? Free health / ammo pack. Overconfident Lime scunt? Free Amby fodder. Memelord Loose Cannon Demo? Pincushion. As Spy in comp, you may not always get the meta picks (or many picks at all). But there sure is a "hierarchy" of awareness and likelihood each enemy player is going to have. Exploit, Exploit, Exploit!
