Here's some g rated animated films that should've been PG on my list, 1 The Fox And The Hound because of the bear fight scene and it was too grim to be rated G, 2 Pocahontas because of some violence especially the way Kocoum gets killed and when John Smith gets shot, 3 Mulan because there was some violence in that and shows dead soldiers when Shang and his men found out that the Huns got to the village first, 4 The Lion King because of the death of Mufasa and when Simba And Scar are fighting, 5 Rio 2011 because they're showing what they did in Carnival. They gave it a G rating because of the detail of mild off color humor but still kids don't want to see that stuff, 6 Quest For Camelot not too much violence but because of Gary Oldman's acting as the villain Ruber, 7 Balto because there was some sad moments in that movie I don't know if it makes it on the list but let me know, 8 Pokemon The first Movie including the second and third movie because even though there's funny moments like in the show but it's just too violent for them to be rated G, 9 Toy Story 3 unlike the first two films there's dark moments in this third installment of the Toy Story franchise especially Lotso's backstory and when the toys almost get burned in the dump, last but not least 10 Beauty And The Beast 1991 I couldn't make up my mind about it but last year's live action movie got the right rating but in this cartoon version there was some violence where the beast saves Belle from wolves and when Gaston falls to his death and when the beast almost dies. Let me know what you think of what I put in my list.

Darn right children back in the day were treated with more intelligence PokePony, I wish children nowadays were treated as maturely. It's really sad that children are so coddled, giving them an unrealistic view of the world. I of course am not encouraging parents to show inappropriate shows, like showing a PG movie to a five year old, however, I see no problem in showing children a little darkness, to prepare them for living in the real world.

432mag Man, it's no wonder many people in my own age group are feeling at least as nostalgic as old fogeys! No that I mention it, I'll have to hope in vain that any of today's kids won't end up being humilated for being called an "old fogey in a kid's body" for being raised strictly on whatever the kids' parents grew up with now that people in my own age group seem lucky enough to currently be aging into the predominant childbearing range, especially after coming across this Newgrounds article lamenting over animated films no longer being provided with this exact treatment that was published a decade ago: negativeone.newgrounds.com/news/post/222292/2 Man, time sure has been flying ever since I noticed the Internet being relied on as a nostalgia soapbox for reasons such as that!

Than: G rated animated movies were very dark and PG animated films were actually quite adult. Now: PG movies are almost never truly dark and when they are parents complain about them and thanks to adult/dirty jokes G is dead except for Nature Documentary's. At least dark kids chapter books slip past the censors!

The Secret of Nimh (and The Rats of Nimh of which it was based on) as well as the All Dogs Go To Heaven movies (and tv series) were huge favorites of mine as a child. I loved Nimh soooo much that I ruined several VHS tapes from watching it so much. My mom even told me once that I used to know all the lines and even tried to campaign a school play based on it. All that fun stuff aside, I have to point out the time period when a lot of these were rated. Children weren’t AS sheltered and hidden away from the cruelty and violence of the world like they are now. Hand-in-hand with this extreme sheltering, they are developing more and more disorders that are leaving them incapable of being functioning adults in the real world. What future do we truly have if we continue babying spoiled rotten crybabies?

I did enjoy the quaint nature of the video. It brought back some succinct memories, since I had seen these in my younger days. (Except "The Princess And The Frog", which is relatively recent by these films' standards) Two big shout outs for yourself and your--shall we say, most enthusiastic--comment participants: "The Plague Dogs" -- something of a follow up to "Watership Down" which is so heavy that even cable networks avoid broadcasting it "The Animals Of Farthing Wood" -- technically a TV series, but the frequent and graphic nature in which the characters become roadkill/hunt spoil is grave enough for mention "Redwall" -- another expansive series that most PBS stations got away with showing and--let's just say it was painfully faithful to the Brian Jacques novels upon which it was based And speaking of novel-basis, my most heart-felt shout out for Disney's own classic, "The Black Cauldron" -- hard to find a more appropriately named film. Thanks for the memories!

I would probably disagree with you on just about all of these, as you seem to not give children enough credit. General Audiences simply means that it doesn't focus itself to any age group, but is deemed acceptable and inoffensive by majority standards. In order for a child to learn and grow, you need to respect their minds enough to teach them about life, consequences, existence, and even death and the afterlife; you see, by shielding them from "questionable content" you are actually robbing them of individual thought. I never found anything like that frightening as a kid, because I just found it thought provoking, as I'm sure many others would agree. Also, as a side note, you seem to using the term "realistic" pretty loosely for these animated movies.

Shnobbs Man The main problem with modern G is that it's extremely rare. The rating system doesn't take PG seriously anymore and just slap the rating on anything family friendly, pushing G to extinction. Personally, I think ratings had better structure before the introduction of PG-13.

We are less uptight, heck there are even R rated American movies that have gotten the PG rating up here. "Hercules" has the G rating up here, "Tarzan" got the PG rating, "The Secret of Nimh" got the G rating and "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" is rated G. I can't state the ratings of the others because I don't have those.

lol I've been watching the secret of Nymph since kindergarten and loved it. Also the princess and the frog is one of the best movies the vooodoo is because that's a part of New Orlean's history and I found that it was awesome that Disney included it in their movie. Remember when it came out, kids weren't scared of it at all I heard that lots of girls thought they could kids frogs but other than that nothing else

I know you know the it's a cheetah now, I just want to name key differences Cheetahs have lean bodies and a relatively disproportionately small head. They also have spots that are completely filled in with tear drop like marks on their eyes. They hunt in solitude but male cheetahs are known to hunt and share territory with their brothers. Leopards (though hunt in similar terrain as the cheetah and compete) have more broad bodies and shorter legs. They are mostly climbing animals and live in solitude which is what is portrayed in the movie. When they animated him though they made him more similar to a jaguar that live mostly in central and South America but Tarzan is based in Africa. By eliminating the factors Sabor is clearly a leopard If you pick out these things you'll be able to identify if it's a leopard or cheetah. I know some people can't tell the difference but there are key parts that can show you which species of big cat it is. I'm sorry 😅 I've been watching big cat documentaries since I was little so... I know a lot about history, science and animals.

I like your videos but please research a little better. In Tarzan the animal is a leopard not a cheetah, the great mouse detective is part of disneys Renaissance Era so the movies that are apart of that era are ment to be darker than other disney movies. And most of these movies are meant to be horror movies for kids, while others don't have enough bad material to be considered pg

Shnobbs Studios yeah If only people could see that kids do in fact have the intelligence to handle these kinds of things and don't need to be sheltered from something that seems even remotely dark for them, especially when it comes to topics that might as well help them with the real world Because I mean, it's not like it'll turn them into people that is scared of everything or that want to harm everyone around them I grew up with these things, hell, I even grew up watching Dragon Ball Z with my older brothers every afternoon, and I turned out pretty fine, if anything, it's thanks to these things that I'm more or less able to keep my head afloat whenever the sheer harshness of the real world, whether it be the death of a loved one or a natural catastrophe of sort, happens because by then, I'm pretty used to it No seriously, I'm sure kids can handle things like this, because if kids could handle it back then, who knows, looking at what was considered PG in the 80's they could've handled topics like these and more back then, they can still handle it today Besides, everyone has or will have a little bit of darkness in their lives at some point The world isn't all cupcakes and rainbows after all, because for every piece of good you'll have, you'll still find a piece of bad to combat the good so I don't really see why media has to bubble wrap them away from the world so much

I don't know if you're interested in that but I have a suggestion of Dark movies both animated and live action that people shouldn't show to their kids like 2 or five year old. 10. A Christmas Carol 2009 starring Jim Carrey, 9. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame from Disney and you could tell people why because there's a lot going on in this movie unlike Disney's other films. 8. Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith, 7. Spider-Man 3, 6. The Black Cauldron, 5. Where The Wild Things Are because it has nothing to do with the book, 4 The Shining, 3 The Dark Knight, 2 The Crow and number 1 The Dark Crystal. Let me know what you think.

"Valiant" - War violence "Chicken Little" - Rude behaviors, citizens in peril, and sci-fi stuff "Cars" (Franchise) - 1 for its foul language kids shouldn't hear, 2 for its violence and weaponry, and 3 for Lightning's accident (which would give fans of Lightning McQueen nightmares) "Ratatouille" - Scary scenes and foul language "WALL-E" - Sci-fi stuff "Pocahontas" (Franchise) - 1 for its politically incorrect remarks and tons of war violence and 2 for its own violence "Mulan" (Franchise) - 1 for its war violence and scary scenes and 2 for its dark moments "Rio" (Franchise) - 1 for its off-color humor and 2 for Nigel's gruesome flashbacks "Horton Hears a Who" - For its consistent bullying and sometimes rude moments "Brother Bear" (Franchise) - For scenes that are either scary, violent, or both "Monsters Inc." (Franchise) - For scenes that could frighten kids and give them nightmares "Doug's 1st Movie" - For scenes that could frighten kids "Recess: School's Out" - Violence "Animaniacs: Wakko's Wish" - For scenes that are either scary, violent, inappropriate, or all of the above (Even though it already is PG-rated, despite being a direct-to-video feature film from Warner Bros. Feature Animation) "The Rugrats Movie" (Franchise) - For scenes that are either rude and mean-spirited or scary in the whole trilogy "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" - Sci-fi action, scenes that are violent, and characters in peril "Inspector Gadget" (Franchise) - 2 for scenes that are either rude or mean-spirited "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" - For scenes that could frighten kids "The Muppets" (Franchise) - "The Muppet Christmas Carol" for scenes that could frighten kids and "Muppet Treasure Island" for scenes that are either scary, violent, or both, and "Muppets From Space" for its dark moments and sci-fi encounters. (Pretty much, all but the original trilogy, which would remain G-rated in their own rights) "The Fairly Oddparents: Wishology" - For scenes that are either scary, violent, or both (Even though it already is PG-rated) "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie 2: Truth or Square" - For scenes that are potentially inappropriate (Even though it already is PG-rated) "Scooby Doo" (Direct-to-video franchise) - Depends one whichever one is the scariest (despite being direct-to-video feature films from Warner Bros.)
