The reason why Daniel Craig is such a successful 007 is because he is most like the Bond portrayed in the books--a gritty, dirty, bloody man of British origin, not a spotless charm piece, or a sarcastic one-liner or, dare I say, a colored person. I like and respect Idris Elba as much as the next guy, but don't cast an actor simply for the sake of being politically correct. James Bond is a white British man, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you change that, he will no longer be James Bond. Like it or not, but James Bond must always and unapologetically remain a white guy.

My first choice, too. I think that he has the ability to play the many - often dark - layers that make the original Bond figure. Something only Dalton could manage to act out so far.

Before I even knew who Clive Owen was, I saw a movie with him and thought "If they ever need a new James Bond, he'd be an excellent choice."

Clive Owen and Hugh Jackman's chance to play James Bond has long gone. My 2 best picks from this list would be Andrew Lincoln and Richard Armitage. Richard Armitage hands down the best.

Tom Hiddleston, Clive Owen, and Michael Fassbender are top for me. I think Clive and Michael would make a great, classical bond, but I'd love to see how Tom Hiddleston might pull it off cuz I don't think he's really the typical Bond type of guy. I would also love to see Idris Elba in the role, but there is some merit in the arguments for the fact that Bond is... well, white. However, Hollywood has a looong history of casting white actors to play characters of other races, so why not vice versa?

How anyone thought Craig was better is beyond me. Now however, in 2015 & beyond, I think his time is passed. It's Elba or Tom Hardy. For me, THEY are the only 2 I can see saying : " BOND--JAMES BOND. " ------But then, I also believe to this day that Timothy Dalton was the best Bond of them all. Or, at least for the 80's & early 90's. By far, I enjoyed watching his take on the character. Roger Moore grew tiring very fast, & except for " Goldeneye", Brosnan was burdened with terrible scripts & female co-stars --Halle Berry the lone exception! As for Craig, for me he has zero charisma, & he's too short. He did however, get to work with Eva Green, the lucky SOB !! Wolfsky9

Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors and I can't think of anyone better to play James Bond. He would be awesome!

Why does everyone want idris Elba? It's like everyone forgot that James Bond has been described in detail in the books. He is a white male with black hair and grey eyes in his late 30s. He also is a suave upperclass asshole. Idris Elba does not fit any of that descriptions. You might as well cast him to play katness in the hunger games because he fits that description just as well as he would bond. Also just give the book Live and let Die a read and see if he would make a good bond.

BigNoseDoggie Cavill has already found the perfect place for him in a franchise. He was not Bond material. Too good boy.

Tom Ellis would make a great bond. His lucifer persona alone I think makes him a good candidate. He's tall, in shape and has the suave and humor.

I'd pick Luke Evans for the role. From this list, Matthew Goode looks like he could pull it off. Each of the Bond actors have portrayed him differently so your pick might depend on which type of star you prefer. Sean Connery was more of a tough guy while Roger Moore was a wisecracking charmer.

Felix Leiter has been changed to black, miss Moneypenny is now black as well... Either one of the producers has a massive fetish for a darker skin colour or someone just wants to piss people off. I bet that 95% of people that don't want a black Bond have nothing against black people at all, it's just the fact that someone wants to make Bond black for no fucking reason that irritates them.

With the successful interest in James Bond to audiences in Casino Royale(1954), which had Bond an American CIA agent played by Barry Nelson, Fleming didn't like his character, and went back to the drawing board to make a James Bond with more "flare." His two choices were to make James Bond a woman, or make him British instead of American. Due to the current popularity of female spies like Modesty Blaze, and the Avengers in 1950-1960s era pop culture Fleming felt that idea wouldn't take off so he chose the latter, and rewrote James Bond as an English spy.

I would love to see Andrew Lincoln as James Bond. Such an under appreciated actor, who really has a lot of range in his acting abilities. He's very charming, and I've never seen anyone be able to play intense and menacing like him. There's a certain look he has when he goes savage as Rick Grimes, and it's very intimidating. Only problem is he wouldn't have too many movies in him before he gets too old. Charlie Hunnam (Jax from Sons of Anarchy) is another guy who I think could do a nice job.

Craig got the role due to the fact that he wanted less money than all 3 of the above. Hugh Jackman wanted way too much. Gerard Butler was also chosen at the same time as Remington Steele actor Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan got it because he was promised the role if he did not re sign his contract for Remington Steele and Butler was blabbing too much that he would be Bond. He lost the role because of that. 3 of the actors chosen appeared in Tomb Raider 2 I believe.

When Daniel was casted everyone was like bleh ! He's blonde ! He's not that type ! Now look at that guy ! One of the best bond with giving the royality to the character !!!!! ,❤️❤️❤️

My choices, in order of best to worst, would be : 1) Clive Owen - the natural #1 choice 2) Henry Cavill - a great actor and a chameleon in that regard. Plus he's big and tough. 3) Sebastian Stan - YES! A very veratile actor and a hunk. 4) Daniel Bruhl - for the same reasons as above. 5) Tom Hiddleston - He'd make a great, suave Bond who could be absolutely vicious if need be but we'd be watching HIM and not James Bond, however still a great choice. 6) Michael Fassbender - Ehh, see above. Cumberbatch, Hardy and Elba would be great if they weren't already too famous. As with HIddleston, we'd be viewing the all too famous actors and not the character of James Bond. I think Henry Cavill, Sebastian Stan, and Daniel Bruhl would be great choices.

I haven't seen this list yet. And having just re-watched the latter seasons of The Good Wife, seeing Matthew Goode here is a coincidental surprise.

AIDAN TURNER from Poldark. He can be urbane, debonair, funny, ruthless, and can handle the physical aspect of it. And he can act, not be a wooden character.

I don't want Elba to be cast as Bond to break down any "racial barriers", that's just stupid. If you're gonna cast him as Bond, do it because he's the best candidate to play it. I don't care about breaking down barriers, I want to be entertained.

The Bond actor should stay British as it has been for the last 50 years, it is what makes the movie proud to be British. So give the part to Tom.H.

Not that idris Elba is a bad actor but he might as well be in the running to play the Bond girl because he will fit that discription just as well as he fits bonds.

The one I always said should have been Bond was the late Lewis Collins after his Professionals role. He had that screen charisma and I could always hear him say that famous line

Tom Hardy is my top choice, then Michael Fassbender, but Clive Owen has that classic look as Bond too

i prefer watch old Pierce Brosnan as Bond than Daniel Craig in the same role.

Clive Owen is definitely a classical 007 type. He would be my first choice.

Fi would love to see Michael Fassbender as Bond. Idris Elba is too old to start his run as Bond (he'd be in his late forties when he starts - the next actor needs to be in his late/mid thirties when they start if they want to get a good few films out of him). And what's the point if you're only going to cast him for the sake of having a black Bond? I'm sure 70% of people who say he should be Bond don't have any clue what they're talking about. They claim to want a black Bond, but only ever suggest Idris Elba. Why do they only ever suggest him? Probably because they're just jumping on the bandwagon.

As for him being too old, lets look at the ages of all the Bonds at the time of their first movie: Connery - 32 Lazenby - 30 Moore - 46 Dalton - 43 Brosnan - 42 Craig - 47 2/3 of them were over 40 at the time of their first movie. Idris Elba is 43 right now.

+Dakota Davidson Daniel Craig was 37 at the time of Casino Royale, which means by the time Idris Elba could start as Bond (if Craig leaves now, then say around 2017/18) he'd be 45/46, which means he'd start at nearly the same age Craig finishes. If they really want an actor to use to their maximum, they need one who is about 35 now (Michael Fassbender) and have them finish around 47.

+Muhamad Adnin Dude's already 51. He'll be like 54-55 by the time they get around to making another on, I don't think they're looking for a 1 (or 2) off Bond.

Matthew Goode - Maybe, I have been hoping for Clive Owen in what seems forever - but, before Timothy Dalton was cast I was shouting for Brosnan! (I also think Bana, albeit an Aussie, could pull it off wonderfully!), Idris Elba would also make a superb Bond - in my preferred order - 1, Clive Owen. 2, Idris Elba. 3 Matthew Goode!

I'd say Henry Cavill, Tom Hid- wait I meant Hardy, and Idris Elba. All have potential unrecognised.

In my opinion, I can only find Daniel Craig as the perfect Bond. Idk though. Hope he stays for at least one more Bond film.
