I had a day part in the Doors. Ran into Val Kilmer backstage. He was leaning against a wall and it gave me the shivers. Everyone called him Jim on set. We were trapped on for that set for up to 17 hours a day. We were hot, tired, and hungry. Kilmer got on stage and sang for us. He became Morrison.

Guy who played Elvis looked more like a teenage Ray Liotta playing Elvis then he did Elvis himself!

By far, I think this list should have included Ed Harris portraying Gene Krantz in "Apollo 13" and Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything".They look almost identical to the historical figures!

Christine Taylor as Marcia Brady was actually shocking, not only being a near clone but getting her speech patterns ("skewl", etc)

Tom Hardy as Charles Bronson. (Watching the film Bronson actually had me convinced I was actually watching the real-life man on screen. Tom Hardy was great in the film and really looked like he disappeared into the part of Bronson. I even heard that he once visited Bronson in prison and even borrowed his facial hair in order to prepare for his role and Bronson himself said he liked Hardy's portrayal of him in the film and even said he would want him to raise his son while he was in prison.)

Renee Zellwiger as Judy Garland was uncanny. Especially at certain angles they looked like twins

Of all the movies Zac Efron has made, The Iron Claw is the one I really want to watch with him.

These were great videos and I enjoyed the heck out of all of them. How fantastic was this pile of films? I don't know what to think other than they were all awesome and I loved every one of them. ❣️😄

A very mixed bag here. Some were great performances that fooled you into thinking that they looked like the originals, but some were actual lookalikes. Val Kilmer does have a genuine facial similarity to Jim Morrison, likewise Robert Downey Jr with Charlle Chaplin. Most don't really resemble the originals though.

I love Jamie Foxx and I love Ray Charles. However, while Jamie did a great Job in the "Ray" biopic, he looks nothing like Ray Charles in his 20s or his 30s.

The Doors is still one of my favorite biopics.

Almost all actors playing real people are evocations more than impersonations, though occasionally you get something close to real. Remember, Charlie Chaplin himself once entered a Chaplin Lookalike competition... and came THIRD. Personally, I think Jason Scott Lee did a remarkable job as Bruce Lee in Dragon. One of the best I have seen in recent memory, however, was in a film I missed initially but got a chance to see a few years back, and that was Daniel Bruhl as Niki Lauda in Rush (with honorable mention of Chris Hemsworth as James Hunt). Denzel Washington as Malcom X was phenomenal too, even better than Bruhl's Lauda. But the best ever I have seen was Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler in Downfall. I am amazed that this is not #1. Compare any of the names on this list, even James' and Theron's roles, with Ganz as Hitler. Compare any other portrayal of Hitler before or after too. The most accurate likeness ever put on screen of a real person, by an Actor playing them, is Ganz's Adolf Hitler. But it is more, the mannerism, idiosyncrasies, the voice, the emotional portrayal and psychology (whilst we have little in the way of recorded or filmed material about Hitler's life in the last days of the Nazi regime, we DO have plenty of first hand accounts from people who were there and survived the war)... it is huantingly accurate from all we know of Hitler's last days. Foxx's Charles was good, better than many on this list, definitely so, but is pipped by Washington as X, and Bruhl as Lauda to me, and it does not compare to Bruno Ganz's Hitler, nothing I have ever seen does.

Zac Efron doesn't look anything like Kevin, he looks like David, lol.

James D'Arcy's portrayal of Anthony Perkins in "Hitchcock" made me shiver.

The majority of Oscar wins for best actor/actress in the last 12 years were for portrayals of real life people. It's far easier to mimic the look, the walk, the talk, and the performance of a real person than it is to create a character from scratch because the blueprint is already there in recordings and archival footage. Really, they should have their own category, exclusive from an original character, much like "Best Adapted Screenplay" has from "Best Original Screenplay."

Really special shoutout to Brad Garret playing Jackie Gleason. Tv movie but an incredible performance

Because... that's what the elvis actor looks like in the clip used at the end of that 8th entry...25 years ago Depp. Honestly this whole list should have started with a notification that it wasn't gonna be just about the appearance, since all the actors on actually did just insanely good jobs of really inhabiting the body of the one they were portraying.
