@Keos Masons To be clear.. iN the video you appear to be making a flat extraction and using the gizmo tool to pull out the thickness of the shoulder pads and other parts ... how are you able to do that?

When you do a "grouploop" it creates and edge loop around the hole with a different polygroup. So then you just have to select this new polygroup by "ctrl + click" (in transpose mode) :)

He is using mask by features- borders selected, you can find this in strokes menu if I am not mistaken. This helps you to mask only the edges around the mesh. That's how he is pulling the mesh out and simply dynameshing to cap
