Their music videos are very overwhelming and will distract you from the songs so it's best to get lyrics or just plain audio videos for first times. "Right in Two" would be my next vote for Tool reactions :)

It's really not "about" weed. It's about the hypocrisy of our system. The judicial system specifically. TOOL had just come out of a long legal dispute with their original label.

If the song isn't about the hypocrisy of " The war on drugs " then why does Maynard say " Ganja Police, you must have been out your mind? And don't say it says " Ganja please "

Love audio-only versions. Best way to immerse and vibe Tool. Think this one's pretty straightforward: hypocrisy, the system... plus Maynard adding a top layer of weed/pot for fun. One lyrical tidbit is the "cozened indigo" and the "lemon juice: section can be a sort of shorthand for people in power faking tears of empathy. But you do you. The story that they came up with the name "Tool" for fans to use their music as a tool--to be used to get whatever they need from it applies. (That and they get a kick out of watching their fans in their Tool t-shirts showing off their a bunch of "tools.") If you’re into the lyrics I’d go “Eulogy.” Or whatever. Your favorite Tool song is the next Tool song. Here for them all. Subscribed!

Pretty much called it being about hypocrasy. The pot calling the kettle black. Obviously being Tool they have left it to open interpritation with the drug reference. Try their song stinkfist. Prime example of having multiple meanings.

Still high on my list this song. His high pitch voice, the fat base and the creepy and bending guitar.... love it. There is more Tool to discover.

The most important thing is to not listen to the comments. Just enjoy the music for yourself. Everybody has their own "meaning" but like all good art, it is all subjective.

Everything you stated for the first 30 seconds after the song was over is EXACTLY why most will recommend Audio Only for your 1st time. Their music demands you pay attention, it's the absolute best way to get what you need out of it!

Agreed. Not sure why people say lyrics are needed the first time around. Just feel it the first time through then go back and see what the message is. It’s too much of a distraction otherwise. The words don’t sync up properly so that can throw people off waiting for words they’ve already read.

AEnema lyric video. Its an incredible song. Very progressive. Some lyrics are hard to grasp unless you know a little American geography, but of course we will all be here to answer your questions and any confusion - like many have done already with this gem of a song! Thank you for not constantly interrupting the song... This is a reaction video not a somebody trying to figure out what the song means video. I just sit and watch your face and your movements and how you react to parts of the song that's what I enjoy. I don't really give a shit what the person thinks the meaning is. I just want to see your face when the song plays because that tells me everything. Glad you enjoyed such a killer song.

I thought tool was a heavy metal band when they first came out. I was 46 when i truly started to listen to their music . They are more like Pink Floyd than Slayer. They are the best band I’ve ever heard.

I stumbled across this band Jinjer years ago while binding Tool reactions. Jinjer is a progressive metal core band from Ukraine. Their music is a bit heavier than Tool but the vocalist Tatiana is an adorable and kind person she will eat your soul. Jinjer Pisces the live session is the song to check out first, if you can survive it you'll have a great time exploring this band.

Always react to audio or lyric videos. Their official music videos for older songs tend to be too distracting for a first listen, but are bizarre and great for subsequent ones! Spiral out!

Don’t say progressive “metal” in front of them. They prefer progressive “rock”. FYI

I like Tool, but i would call Tool more boring and less sophisticated compared to Porcupine Tree. Please watch Porcupine Tree doing Anesthetize live in Tilberg to see what I mean.

Tool and boring don’t belong in the same language lol. Next listen just isolate each instrument and not timing of each independently then see how their poly-rhythms mesh together even at opposing time signatures. It’s genius level composition. 😎
