You’re doing a great job. I’m 57 and have been on board since beginning. The Tool army is tough we all think we’re experts Take what you want from this band and pass it on. They truly are the best

This song is pro’ly about them but it sings directly to me. Once great in my youth. Now 57. Sometimes takes everything to get out there, go to work, battling 20-somethings with no gray hairs who are faster, nimble, even smarter. Doesn’t matter. Weapon out, belly in. Here I am. Bring it.

You know I've always seen this song as deeper meaning. First part tells a story of youth and invincibility, second one is is about realization of getting old and armor being thin. But then there's a third part. I firmly believe the way they stop the song at 14:17 and starts again is basically a symbol for "If you thought the song (my time) is over, you're terribly wrong" a warrior catching his breath again. It's like one of those film moments when hero wakes up again when everyone thought the hope is lost.

Also wanted to note since you read the comments, but I haven't seen it mentioned yet....Maynard James Keenan (singer/lyricist) has 3 bands: Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Pucifer. They're all awesome in their own unique ways, and Tool fans will appreciate and come for reactions to those 2 other bands, without question, and your subs will most likely go up by 10k within a few months. A number of songs are about Maynard's mother Judith, who was a devout Christian (?), and suffered a debilitating affliction when he was a child, her continued faith which he didn't understand at the time, and her subsequent death roughly 10,000 days later. There is a rough order to them, spanning at least 2 bands: Jimmy (Tool), Judith (APC), Wings For Marie & 10,000 Days (Tool-should be listened to together). Other songs are rumored to touch on this subject, but those are definitive. Tool is such a deep dive, IMO the best band on the planet, and if you allow it, will probably change some aspect of your life, your thinking, your view of self, etc. Take your time, pace your reactions, ingest and immerse, and we'll be here for all of it. Spiral out brother...

Thanks man!! I’ll definitely check them out, but gonna stick with FIR and Tool for the moment. Not enough hours in a day to head down so many rabbit holes and still keep up with Ren, Harry Mack, hip hop…. Would love nothing more then to just make reactions all day but don’t think my bank will take that as currency on my mortgage 😂. But will get to them for sure!

Dustinnnnnn 🔥🔥🔥 you didn't botch it. It's about evolving in general. Invincible is one of my top Tool songs. It's just beautifully done. The instrumentals are top notch! I have that Alex Grey design framed in my room!! Alex puts out amazing work. And he looks at stuff he's tagged in on insta. Way cool guy! The meaning is really just about aging and looking back on life and being proud of what they've done.

Just meant my breakdown of the lyrics 😂😂. Oh that’s awesome!!! Yea I’m in love with the blanket, so cool. But… I completely forgot he said he was sending me something. So opened it up and was so confused! I was like, who sent this to me and how did they get my address. Did I just join the Illuminati? 😂😂

Rick Beato did a recent interview with drummer Danny Carey, some really cool insights into their songwriting and studio processes', but they created the band and all Tool music in that same studio space since their inception, a fascinating insight; they just have a comfortable space they can jam and create as they wish, no constraints

Danny’s drumming to just try a 4/4 beat and groove) …. I thought you may dig this one …. If that friend is really good the next thing he’ll send is the Lateralus cd and a bag of mushrooms lol…. 🌀out

I looked at this song through the eyes of a military person, who has given it all and now the next generation is coming up and he's trying to show he still has something left in the tank. Retired military.

Sometimes Tool lyrics are ambiguous to the listener, allegories within metaphors, and very rarely about "others", and usually about "self". This one is pretty straightforward though. It's about aging, and coming to grips with the inevitable weight of time. Ponce De Leon reference to chasing the mythical Fountain Of Youth.

Alright, you got a sub, man. Yeah, this whole last album is just perfection. Great reaction here. As for what you're missing - I've been listening to Tool since the 90s, and I'm always learning new things, realizing I got lyrics or meanings wrong, and the like. It's great though, because the mystery never fully gets solved, so there's always room for your interpretation. I'm pretty sure they did that on purpose.

Pro tip: find the straight beat between the guitar and the bass. Danny does polys so it's hard to catch it. But it's in there!

Please react from the beginning of their discography! This is the best way to do it. 46&2 to invincible ... you're missing all the evolution. That said, Invincible and Descending, both from the FI album are two of the best songs ever written. I've sobbed so many times to this song. I've also seen it 7 times live, it doesn't disappoint. More Tool❤ 🐐 Also, that was super sweet of your friend. That work is called Net of Being, and very popular amongst Tool fans.

Been picking up on your Tool reactions and enjoying your ride so far. Actually, you were about as spot on as can be with a first listen of 46&2. It IS all about growing and evolving as a human. Think about it, when this album came out the internet was basically America Online via dial up and Tool didn't publish lyrics with their albums, so the majority of their tracks took YEARS to fully garner meaning from. This really forced you to isolate and give a HARD listen to what you were hearing, which inevitably resulted in picking up more and more of the intricacies of the instrumentation (also why I think Maynard's vocals are down in the mix so often). I'm 52 and been obsessed with Tool for the last 32 years. 🤟

I love Tool and this song is basically great but imo it drags on just a bit TOO monotonously toward the end. I get it’s the relentless march of time etc but this is pretty much their only song that I find tedious by about 30 seconds to a minute too much right before the outro.
