Adam was Norm’s best friend. Norm loved trolling Adam. Norm’s book trolls him even worse! Adam didn’t know Norm had cancer. The day before he died, Norm sent Adam a message saying, “we are starting the Podcast back up & you are getting a huge raise!” That was Norm’s final troll to Adam. At Norm’s funeral, Adam said, “I loved Norm so much, that I’m not even mad at him even though the first thing on my Wikipedia page says, ‘Adam Eget is a holocaust denier.’”

Adam Eget is the unrecognized hero in all these. Sometimes the guests weren't completely sure that all of it was just trolling/joking, and Adam always played his role and took all the heat. And for the record, Bob Saget could be really dirty. Also, you need to know that the majority of these segments were from his podcast that none of the guests would have seen. So some of the jokes were similar. The point was to make the guest uncomfortable. They almost all knew what Norm was doing, but they were still uncomfortable at laughing.

Norm's podcast was a running segment of Absurdist Comedy but what made Norm special was his deadpan delivery and even when the joke didn't hit he would see it through. Most of the time the Guests understood the inside joke but others were just as bewildered. Obviously Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne, Tom Green, and Dave Osborne understood his comic genius. Norm first started in standup and was a writer for the Roseanne show. His book follows the same kind of Absurd and crude humor throughout. There is really no one like Norm not afraid to fail. It's probably what kept him from really making it big in Movies where Spades humor is more suited for a wider audience.

I highly suspect that that was just Norm's way of telling others that he was aware of the truth behind the incident. The "number in-between", "the shadow", "the guards miraculously not being affected by the gas", and "pictures taken by the Ally aircrafts" are all big giveaways. The three main history books written in the first decade after the war were by Churchill _(The Second World War)_ , De Gaulle _(Memoires De Geurre)_ and Eisenhower _(Crusade in Europe)_ . Between them they contain over 7000 pages (excluding forewards indexes etc). Not one of these history books mentions one word about the "suffering of J people" or the 'Caust.

There was Inception levels of performance art going on here during tapings of The Norm MacDonald Podcast that varied in degrees or different punk'd strategies depending on the guest of that particular episode. First and foremost, Adam is a co-conspirator. It helps to know that off the bat. At no time is Adam really the true butt of the joke when a guest is on. Norm and Adam are a comedy grifters two man team. Like all con men, they have several schemes in their arsenal at their disposal at the ready and usually at play in motion depending on the mark. The guest is the mark. That's the focal point of their comedic sting operation on the surface at a micro level. On a macro level big picture, the greater con being pulled and ultimate mark is on the audience. All of us. Your immediate confusion and being put on the back foot is the appropriate response as any reasonable person wouldn't know the Andy Koffman level of method comedy art is being attempted and pulled off before their very eyes. There's a lot of moving parts and wheels within wheels at work going on to pull this ruse in real time of their tapings off. The crew off-camera are in on the joke too with Norm and Adam, but it's not that simple either. Because when they laugh off-camera, it depends how and what they are actually at or for. Meaning, they know the awkward interview interactions between Norm, Adam and Guest is all an act, a shell game to get the guest to take a stand or pick a side on a subject matter that is a societal hot button issue considered off limits for talk show going out for public consumption. So, the crew will laugh sometimes at the audacity of how far Norm and Adam will go to set up the guest, reaching insane levels of cringe. Other times, they are laughing themselves stupid because they got the guest to take the bait and genuinely get worked up or be exposed for controversial stands otherwise you'd never know. Nobody is safe. The David Spade episode is particularly insane for the fact he and Norm worked together on SNL in their early days yet he got it the worst. He showed up disheveled in a hat told they'd clean him up in makeup. First thing he finds out when he gets there, they don't have a makeup department. That's troll act number one. So, they sit around shooting the shit for twenty minutes on set till Spade finally asks when they going to start the show. And brutally that's when he finds out they've been rolling the whole time and conversations he thought we're private between the three of them are now recorded and going out to the world. Troll number two. The last one Spade got roped into was believing and buying into the con laid out that Adam is genuinely that way, really awkward and saying cringe things accidentally became he's that ill at ease and moronic by nature. Spade thinks this is on the level and just how the guy is and Norm hired this amateur hour hack punching bag so David's roasts are real on Adam. Not realizing this too is also all an elaborate act and great big con job. Adam's entire persona on the podcast the moment he sets foot in the studio, he is in character playing the part that we all saw. 100% total comedy performance. Playing a very committed straight man bit to lower the guests guard to take the early hits and put downs to lull the guests into thinking they couldn't look as bad as that guy. Once you know all that stumbling band stammering Adam does and stupid misunderstandings he gets into, responding with equally inane left field observations, is all part of his brilliance and he is masterful. When you rewatch segments after knowing the truth that Adam is a complete manufactured character he has made up playing the part and playing us the audience, you instantly marvel how he keeps a straight face and maintain the deception with an unwavering commitment and poker face. There's more to unpack but my hands from typing are exhausted. The whole show is a sham and lie within a lie. David Letterman was the one guest who saw right through the bs immediately and amazingly turned the tables on both of them, and started trolling Norm and Adam. This caused them both and off camera crew to genuinely laugh which is different from their other cracking up footage because it's coming from a place of truth. Dave just announced he's not coming back, Norm, waves to the non existent audience and walks off. It's pretty freaking epic. Super Dave Osbourne was in the first pilot test episode and the one who comes unglued at the things they are doing, asking, saying. He absolutely was 100% in on the whole thing and only guest that ever was. He had to help sell the concept to the corporate people to go forward with this meta podcast gimmick that was all one big in-joke gimmick that the majority of people wouldnt ever really get fully let alone at all.

The best part is that Norm clearly researched Holocaust denial talking points about the smokestacks and everything just to have specific things to accuse Adam of saying.

The joke between Norm and Adam is that Norm writes all the stuff that Adam reads, and then Norm acts horrified by what Adam says. The same with the Holocaust stuff, Norm is just putting words into Adam's mouth.

Norm was wrinkling his nose at Adam, he was trolling him by saying that Adam called the movie Shoah a "Fantasy." Shoah is about the holocaust (Treblinka was a concentration camp). More Norm trolling in Norm style, he says that and wrinkles his nose and pauses, looking at Adam in silence to put the spotlight and discomfort on him, so he has to deny it lol.

It's ball busting. Normal guys (non-millennial/non-gen-Z) bust each other's balls for fun. The insults between friends would melt a millennial, send a Gen-Z into vapour lock, and make a boomer cry. That's what we do.

Norm was the best at trolling, theres not even a close 2nd. Its all a bit. He loved to say outlandish things to get people reaction, and when other people said something to the same effect, he would play it off like it wasn't cool that they said it. Adam took it like a champ too. Norm was also very smart and played it off like he didn't know a lot of things cause in his words, nobody likes a smart guy... Tom Green btw.

Norm obviously deserves all the credit and admiration for his career. But people really need to throw Adam Eget more love for sitting there and running with that joke in front of multiple famous people that could have taken it a lot worse lol. Plus from what I know of he was just some comedy club booker that Norm took a liking to and from there it morphed into them having this podcast. It takes a lot of patience and humility to be the punchline of a joke especially when it the jokes were something that could potentially get someone canceled in this day and age
