Those 8 programmable buttons are excellent, I use them on every trip - you can save them to do ANYTHING in iDrive, for example opening the sat nav and setting the destination to Home, with one click. They’re brilliant!

*the buttons can be used to pre programs shortcuts. So if you program the satnav to go to your home address you can just press 1 and it will load the nav and home route with one button press*

Yeah. You can basically program anything on the infotainment screen to a button and it will go there directly, even pages out of the owners manual.

Simplistic interiors are BMWs historical tradition but I do think Tony’s final comment is the best comment I’ve heard from any KZreadr “every manufacturer makes a good car, it’s all about personal opinion” well said Mr Gravelwood!

So this bloke buys car new and runs them for a few thousand miles to get to know then. But doesn't know what the radio preset/short cut buttons do? He thinks the dash controls are "pony" but doesn't understand their true functionality.

I know a lot of people are dumping on Paul, saying things like "this channel is dead." I agree that the content has been less interesting of late than that of other car KZreadrs. That said, I think the ROR (Real Owner's Review) idea is a good way of differentiating the channel from the others. JWW is now a fashion / lifestyle channel with good cinematography... so that's his niche. Shmee 150 is still doing a lot of complete reviews, bumper to bumper, so that's his thing. STG is doing the Around the World tour, and that could be cool. What all this means to me is variety... So, if SOL is not for you, by all means go elsewhere. At least the channels are not carbon copies of each other the way it felt they used to be.

We are going away!!! ,this is the first of Paul's videos I've watched in 2months ( and Tony was the only reason I watched ) - and I doubt I'm the only one

For more on the M2 competition head over to Joe Achilles channel. He talks about driving dynamics and a lot more about the car. He actually owns the car. Those 1-8 buttons are programmable shortcut buttons. In my 118i, I can press button 6 and it brings up the sport displays, button 2 for Radio 2 , button 8 for trip information. Those are just a few examples. Also if you place your finger over the button without pressing it it shows up on the Idrive what the shortcut is. Also the interior is a big step over the orginal M2, the programmable M buttons on the steering wheel, and centre console, replacing the sport/comfort rocker buttons. The car gets the M seats and M Mirrors.

@@robertolombardi3698 Why would Joe do that, He said himself that when he had his M2 the cost where to high, bearing in mind he was running his M lite and the 7 series at the same time. Also he said there is futher modifications to be done (proper modifications not wrapping) and I am sure there will be a petrolheads tour in the future. 😃

I'm super excited about getting mine for next April, the original M2 was a great car and this competition has raised the bar even further. I have big plans to mod it to the max and track it. You just know it's a great car if Tony rates it highly.

I’m 24 and i’m completey with tony on manuals. Yes they are fun but i much prefer being able to relax in an auto and they can still be great fun with paddles and down shifts

The "Radiostationbuttons" can be used as a shortcut to functions (Tirepressure etc pretty much every function in the Menu) or Navi Targets etc.. I use it all the time and I like the feature very much

I think your videos need a bit more planning & viewer consideration. You talk about the spec of the M2/wheels etc. But then show the viewers northing. Frustrating!! Then bad pints good points! You forgot to get to the good points!? Too distracted giggling over a GTR driving past.. So are we to take it there aren’t any? Probably not if it’s 20k more than an RS3 and you’d choose one over the M2. Very poor review! SOL needs to review and up its game if it wants to grow.

Dmthw bad: the m2 cp (3600 lbs ) its 110 lbs heavier than a 2018 M3 ( 3490 lbs) and 150 lbs heavier than standar M2. Weight play an importany role n racing applications.

Anyone else notice Paul giving the M2 the beans on that back road? Need to see you drive cars like that more often.

Paul, I have a manual M2 Comp as a daily driver, great car and more fun in manual format. I had a manual version of the old car and this is 30% better. When Akrapovic release their exhaust that will cure the sound, all these new cars with particular filters are muting the sound we all love. Borrow the car off Tony for the day you will love it....

I’ve got a 2019 M140i and the interior is very similar; those 7 buttons are to assign radio stations to. I like the dash and interior but can see Tony’s point. Mercedes interiors look and feel much more premium.

I haven't decided if I can live with the looks of this car but then again all the best M cars are out of production now, it ticks all the other boxes but I might wait for a new revision of the 2 series that doesn't look like a 1995 Hyundai Coupe for the price of a used Ferrari. Oh well, I hope you do a good job of telling me what it will be like to drive to the supermarket or travelling to visit family for Sunday lunch on normal roads at least.

I totally agree with tony about manual gearboxes. i am over them as well.I drive a Golf R with DSG.easy. drive and drink coffee simultaneously. no clutch no more.but i would like to upgrade and the choice is good. do i wait for the new A45 AMG. the RS3 does not look like a $100.000+ car to me.the BMW M2 competition is $120.000 here in Australia. an M4 competition is over $170.000 here.thats 92.000 pounds. so thats why im in a Golf R. $70.000 here with FULL options.Thats leather. DSG. akrapovic exhausts. brake upgrade. so the jump from a Golf here is a massive step.or wait for the new MK8 Golf R, ???

itsjonathanmiller Epic was the N55. The S55 sound is a letdown from the previous model.

I have my first bmw in my 27y of driving cars. Bought a m2 (6 months ago) and a m240 xdrive (delivery with in 2 weeks). Drove for 15y audi. I do love the interior (maybe becouse it's my first 1) I love the feeling and looks of the buttons. That you can program them as shortcuts. The looks are just the signature of bmw. Love the analog / digital screen. They changed it in the new 3 series. Sorry, totally not a fan.

Comp is a much more complete M car, from what i've read/been told, but will depreciate heavier as it still has it's 1st 24 months depreciating to do. a 2016 m2 is now superb value at low £30's and PCP deals are currently cheap due to good GFV

Drew H.B.C. Owner if sound is not high on your list then the comp is probably better. Knowing last spring that BMW was changing to the S55 helped me to decide to order the M2, rather than wait for the Comp, in May.

If you want a lot of Power buy the comp, because the engine has a great tuning potential. If you think around 400hp are enough buy the "old" M2, with a other exhaust system and a downpipe it sounds insane. I have the old m2 and for me it has enough power.

as someone who worked in car rental for 8 years, I can safely say that £70 for a 1 day rental of an xtrail in the low season is VERY expensive

H Carter this was filmed end November, first week of Dec, on a one day rental. , literally the lowest couple of weeks of the car rental year.

You need to move here to the US where premium 'petrol' is $2.50 a gallon, not 6 as in London.

M2 N55 sound cannot be beat and it has 35 less horsepower that the Comp.. no brainer which one is more unique and fun to drive.
