Chorus:
I remember you
You're the one who made my dreams come true
A few kisses ago
I remember you
You're the one who said "I love you, too"
Yes, I do, didn't you know?
I remember, too, a distant bell and stars that fell
Like the rain out of the blue
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all
Then I shall tell them I remember you
I remember, too, a distant bell and stars that fell
Just like the rain out of the blue
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all
Then I shall tell them I remember you

This song make,s me remember my son,s father and I will love him for the rest of my life.
There was once a beautiful comment posted about this gorgeous song. I will reconstruct it as best I can. The story: A man was riding a cab into Manhattan across the Triborough Bridge in late autumn. The sun was setting and there were early signs of winter in the air. His aunt had recently died and he was on his way to her apartment to collect a few items. This Tony Bennett song came on the radio in the cab as the lights of Manhattan were coming on. The man's eyes filled with tears as he remembered this was his aunt's favorite song. Yes, this really hit me hard as I reflected that at some point in our short lives all we have are memories of people that we loved.

@@StuckInTheMiddlewithYou Songs have a special way of bringing our deepest emotions to memories. When I hear certain songs I remember how my Mom had a small radio in her kitchen. Music would be playing while I sat at the kitchen table building my model airplanes. She'd be fixing us another great dinner. She was a wonderful mother, instilling in us the values that attentive and loving parents transfer to their children.

@@roberthenry5070 I tuned in for Tony's TV special to celebrate his 80th birthday (10+ years ago). k.d. lang sang "Because of You" with Tony. (w/ Chris Botti on trumpet) I was only into the first half of the song when the tears came. It had been a few years after my Mom's passing but she immediately came to mind. I knew that she knew and loved that song.
We remember Tony Bennett ... What a song, what an arrangement, what a masterful interpretation of Jonny Mercer's song !
Don't worry Tony, we'll always remember you.

This is a Heavenly-resplendent version by Tony Bennett and orchestra. Tony's voice is like the hand that holds and manipulates the brush. The music are the oils or watercolors. The canvas is our hearts. The result is a soulful masterwork! Thanks, Johnny Mercer, Victor Schertzinger, Tony Bennett, and a wondrous orchestra.
Thank you Mr. Bennett for sharing your lovely gift of music with the world. God bless you.
This man aint no joke. And was no joke.
Remarkable! You have brought so much happiness to tens of milions of people! Still, that voice that no one couldn't say, "That's Tony"! You knew "back in the day", you were a hit when Frank and his pals would end a show and rush to hear Tony perform!

It is an incredible achievement -- one that stands apart from everything else.
Such a soothing voice. Thank you, Tony!
The great Johnny Mercer wrote this song and said it was closest to expressing how he felt about Judy Garland. Today is her birthday and she would be 101 today. On June 25th he would have been gone 47 years. I hope somewhere up there they are both dancing to this song.
WOW yes . If I need to think it’s you I play to clear my head and that just smooths all the wrinkles away.
Yet another masterpiece, Mr Bennett! Bravo!!
Song interpretation. No one from any era can do it better than Tony. And, of course, the orchestral arrangements on this album scored by the great Johnny Mandel are to die for!
Frank Ifield, Glenn Campbell and Tony Bennett. Great singers. Great song
The Most beautiful arrangement ever. My tommy and I would slow dance in the kitchen to this song when he helped me prepare dinner. It always made me cry cause I couldn’t imagine life w/o him but now he is with those angels.

Beautiful song Tony
Imagine Tony and Lady Gaga performing as a duet "I Remember You" and "True Love" (Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly version).
The ultimate voice and a joy of a man!
No words!
Wow this is amazing. Beautiful.

This is How I want to express how I care about The people that mean so much to me.
My Mom intruduced me to the Great American Popular Songbook when I was 8. Tony has been on my mind nearly every day since. I met Tony and Danny backstage in Fort Worth in 2008 and it was one of the great joys of my life. Like you, I have spent weeks reminiscing and weeping, in joy and sadness, over this great loss. I sit at my piano and play and sing the songs. Thanks to you folks all over the world for your wonderful tributes and stories. Thanks to Danny for helping out his Dad and Susan for taking care of our Hero.

Lovely comment. I never had the good fortune to meet Tony or Danny in person, but I was lucky to see Mr. Bennett twice. The first time was also in Fort Worth at Bass Performance Hall. It was September 11, 2002. A somber day. The next time was August 19, 2017 -- a little more than two weeks after his 91st birthday. He still gave a magnificent performance. I will always miss him.
So beautiful 🥺 Flowers for you Tony 💐💐💐
My favorite song of his. Kenny Rogers does it well as do many others. It's one of those songs that if you can sing you want to see what you can do with it. Written by the master. Johnny Mercer.
Beutiful
A beautiful rendition.....
And that huge orchestral arrangement. Folks, that is NOT trivial. Somebody with lots of knowledge put that together. and...terrific job Tony...as always

The answer: In 2004, Johnny Mandel arranged Tony Bennett's album The Art of Romance.
Frank Sinatra never got around to recording what many of us consider Johnny Mercer's best song: "I Remember You." But when you hear Tony's `take' on this song (which other song-writers have nominated as the best, popular song lyric ever written) especially as it's heard here, with Mandel's evocative, `celestial' string arrangement - it's hard to imagine a better recording of the song Johnny Mercer himself considered his personal favorite lyrical `child.' Thanks for sharing Tony Bennett. Celebrated elsewhere [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central p 41
I have been a lover of Art and Music my entire life. I have probably said what I'm about to say many times before in my life! Of all the wonderful recordings and songs and pieces of music I've ever heard! This might be one of the most completely beautiful recordings of all time!
Maravilloso Tony bennett....difícil de superar
You'll be remembered and missed, thank you for your music
This is such a good song. There's one I'll always remember...
Nice rendition by Mr. Bennett, but the Frank Ifield version is still my personal favorite. It has an up-tempo feel that I really liked. (It was the first version I heard on the radio back in the early 1990s.)
And I Never forget you, for ever in my Dreams
What a lovely music performed, I can say no more but TERRIFIC....
One of the best voices ever. Where is Tony's version of "My Way"? Tony's was always my favourite and my parents.
Goes straight to ones heartstrings…

You're the one who said goodbye...I remember you

Apparently this was Robert Blake's favorite song when he had dinner at Vitellos Restaurant they would play this song.
I seem to recall: Lola Albright singing this song in one Peter Gunn episode. Closer to home, Diana Cruz used to sing this at Embers. And Ed Maglaque with Bing Delfin on the guitar at Up There, the first (and only) singles bar in Manila.
IAM UNFORGETTABLE IN EVERY WAY. I LOVE LOVING YOU CRAZY FOOL LOVE YOU MY SAAD ❤️ MANY THANKS ❤️💕🏡💕❤️

Great arrangement, Tony Bennett does a good rendition of this beautiful song which for me should always be played at this tempo. The best performance in my view has always been from the wonderful Nat King Cole, nobody does it better.

Check the Nancy Sanchez version of this song it’s amazing and up-beat.

A lovely performance. I still think his voice would have been better served with a basic four-piece ensemble (guitar, piano, bass, drums) with maybe a small brass section (heavier on trumpets and trombone than saxophones, because I think they'd better with his voice. That being said, there probably isn't some asshole AI type already turning this into a '70s disco song.
