Johnny was like a kid, a kid that OWNED this, his playground! Thank you for the memories Johnny. Not just of you, but also of watching my long-gone mother laugh so joyously that years ran down her cheeks! Of the water-cooler talk the next morning, laughing and laughing some more at all you did to entertain us. Thank you Johnny!

I love this stuff. The show itself is just the tip on the iceberg. So much goes on behind the scenes.

This is when we had class. And even if we didn't we knew where to find it!

There can be many hosts, some very good, but there will never be another like Johnny. He could make an old lady, or a small child, feel as important as the pope. And he didn't mind being upstaged, even by a zoo animal. He let the guest -- whoever, or whatever, it was -- be the star. Gawd, I miss him.

Johnny, your mother may not have loved you, but I sure did. I hope you're at peace

Interesting, the music here is not what was on the original broadcast. I assume there was a clearance problem, like all music on TV. But this new music is very close to the original, so perhaps it was created custom for this purpose.

I went to the tonight show in Nov. of 1988 and Johnny was there with Ed, Doc and Tommy Newsome. The guest was James Garner. It was a pretty cool show. I was hoping I could find the damn show on You Tube. It was the day after Michael J. Fox was a guest. How do I know, I heard some of the staff talking about it. It’s a very small studio. On TV it looks much bigger but that’s how the cameras make it. The entire set can be broken down in 20 minutes for another show. Bob Hope did a special in that studio. I’m glad. I got to see Johnny as I knew he wasn’t going keep doing the show and I’ve grown up watching the Johnny Carson Tonight Show since he started it in New York City. Actually, Johnny started doing the show I believe in 1962, and that’s 6 months after Jack Paar left. It was a long, fun run.

Johnny was a strange charismatic soul who could live a normal life due to fame. Sad. All the money in the world didn’t help. Wanna hear from his wife.

The audience is way smaller than it looked like on the show. I wasn't much impressed by the small size.
