Tongan Tuesday! How to Make Ngoua. Part 1

Ойын-сауық

Thanks for watching another video with my mom!
This recipe definitely took some time to film. Feel free to drop a comment on what you want to see next !
Stay tuned for Part 2 where we make the sauce / lolo for the ngou’a.
Recipe:
5 - 14oz packs for Tapioca flour
1 1/2 teaspoons of nutmeg
About 13 1/2 cups of Blended boiled spinach (you can also add more or less based on the color you want. But traditionally it is a dark green color.
1 cup of water

IFO! I remember having this back in Tonga when I was little. I haven't had any since and I am craving for some. I called my mama back in Tonga asking her how to make it. She told me to go on KZread. 😅 Is not that she doesn't know how to make it. Is too much to explain over the phone.

Thank you! We used Lu leaves instead of spinach for ours. I know it's expensive if you live in a non-tropic area, but if you can fork out the extra dollars, it's definitely worth it! Plus it's the old way to make ngou'a

Hi just wondering if I can substitute the Spinach for Pumpkin to make the Pumpkin version😊

  • @MamaVee17

Hello, Yes you can pretty much swap the spinach for anything. I would say the taste may not come out a strong pumpkin taste so you can add some additional pumpkin flavoring.
