This recipe definitely took some time to film. Feel free to drop a comment on what you want to see next !
Stay tuned for Part 2 where we make the sauce / lolo for the ngou’a.
Recipe:
5 - 14oz packs for Tapioca flour
1 1/2 teaspoons of nutmeg
About 13 1/2 cups of Blended boiled spinach (you can also add more or less based on the color you want. But traditionally it is a dark green color.

This is like making po'ke in the Cook Islands where it's made with banana,pawpaw,cassava...anything if you creative like cabin bread lol The vanilla from Tonga is sold in supermarket the brand Heilala. Awesome vid Ata wai walo thank you in my lingo Malo au pito
IFO! I remember having this back in Tonga when I was little. I haven't had any since and I am craving for some. I called my mama back in Tonga asking her how to make it. She told me to go on KZread. 😅 Is not that she doesn't know how to make it. Is too much to explain over the phone.
Definitely going to give this a try - thank u for sharing 🫶🏾
Thanx for sharing ! I am on the 2nd trials , hoping that this time my dough will turn out more closer to what you have made! Perfect job!!!Malo aupito !💜👍

Thank you ✊🏾
Thank you! We used Lu leaves instead of spinach for ours. I know it's expensive if you live in a non-tropic area, but if you can fork out the extra dollars, it's definitely worth it! Plus it's the old way to make ngou'a

Where do you get your Lu from?

@@meliamedaverman3558 if you live in an area full of Polys like California, Arizona, Utah or Texas, you can buy it from any Asian or islander market. Otherwise, we depend on family back home to send us some by mail or when they come to visit.

@@jaqenhghar2970 thank you for getting back to me. I live in Orlando I could not find lu anywhere. I have not seen one Tongan family or other Islanders.

@@meliamedaverman3558 have you tried the Asian stores? I know when I lived in Europe, the ones there surprisingly had Lu and Taro.
What’s the difference between Tongan, Hawaiian and Samoan food? Cause gee willikers I get them confused. How come you don’t keep posting mukbangs. They are so gosh darn entertaining. Jose is always in your videos

How to make the lolo faikakai
Hi just wondering if I can substitute the Spinach for Pumpkin to make the Pumpkin version😊

Hello, Yes you can pretty much swap the spinach for anything. I would say the taste may not come out a strong pumpkin taste so you can add some additional pumpkin flavoring.
Bye malo aupito mama
Need to come up with a hack ..bout to hack this .. all goods
