Toms Bronco Front Disc Brake Conversion Dana 30 - 1966 Ford Bronco Restoration Project

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I install the Tom's Bronco Front Disc Brake Conversion. I also show installing new universal joints in the front axles. Overall the kit installed very easy and looks like it will perform much better than the drum brakes. Thanks for watching. Did this about a month ago....I did the king pins at the same time. World of difference when the brakes are wet compared to the drums. Just FYI James Duff is having a hub and spindle buy back if they are in good shape for the drum set up. I sent mine in and should be getting a in store credit to be used for my new exhaust....Recycling at its finest :) Great video.

    Great video, where you had the caps still sticking out, you can take a hammer and hit the ear of the axle, because the ears get forced in, that has always worked for me . I installed the Toms kit on my 44 and did not put the axle keeper on, like they said and 15 plus years no problems, but the difference is the dana 44 does not have the outer seal on the axle tube like your dana 30.

    I don't know if my Warn hubs are thicker than the ones you are using, but I have driven that seal in as far as I can, and the groove for the retaining clip on the axle isn't exposed when I do this. Maybe that is why they suggest that? Now off to watch your other videos to see what you did for brake hoses and lines (I, too, have a 66, so going from single reservoir to dual, with proportioning valve separating L from R meaning two hoses to front axle, rather than one).

    I just did this on a 74 bronco at my shop. The TBP instructions were pretty vague. The Dana 40 you do not use the the clip on the half shafts. The older style you use the clips... now the brake hoses that came with the caliper kit seems too long. It’s definitely longer then you brake hose. Good video 👍

    Hey I just want to thank you for your fantastic videos guys. I was wondering if you have a recommendation for order of restoration. I'm about a quarter into my restoration and wondering about when to prime paint body, how to store the body while completing the chassis in a way that does not bend it and ruin the bodywork I've done. I have built a frame temporary but moving the body onto the chassis means I have to take that frame off. So I'm just wondering about when should we tackle what?

  • @JasonJonieBuilds

    @JasonJonieBuilds

    3 ай бұрын

    Randy thanks for watching! Your concern regarding the bodywork and moving it around is valid. I was concerned myself. I did the major panel replacement on the frame because that way I knew the mounts were at the correct elevation. After the steel work was close I removed the body and started the chassis. Basically to break up the build. Chassis parts go on quick and it helped keep me motivated. Bodywork just takes so much time it wears on ya. I hope this helps good luck.
