Because this is a song from Cabaret, a musical set during the rise of the Nazis. The song is sung by a member of the Hitler Youth, before the surrounding patrons join in as the audience insert character looks on, stunned. It's a song that shows the sentiment and strength of Nazi affiliation.

The song itself is beautiful and is fraught with promise of a new Germany, but portends to the extreme the HORROR of the result. The poster of the HJ superimposed over the entrance to Auschwitz is I believe a warning. 25 million people died as a result.
