he made a few comments born into trouble.not getting over the great hunger.genetic memories of the famine run deep, the true horror is being glossed over in a recent documentaries..so spot on tommy for sharing thoughts that are in many irish they feel a great hurt has happened to them but dont realy know what.

Tommy mentioned the famine memorial down by the three Arena. I went there after it had been raining, there was bouquet of flowers under each statue. Was quite beautiful.

Brilliant interview. FairPlay to Tommy for such an openness. Without strong people like this who share honestly and who drop the social fake cascade we all are guilty of , then none of us will be able to grow and even really think and face our own experiences. Brilliant dialogue, a great balance of a serious conversation with an injection of comedy. Thanks

I have been an observer of TT for years. I used to be a fan, went to see him in a show in Waterford around 2004 and left feeling disgusted and cheated after such a rubbish idiotic manic performance. It was like if I can’t be funny, I’ll be crazy, if I can’t be crazy, I’ll be manic and maybe they will love it. I didn’t. I lost interest for years after and would more or less turn him off when he was on tv. Then his show came on and I started to see glimpses of what made me a fan in the first place. The likes of this interview confirm that he is intelligent, interesting, informed and engaging and maybe it is his best platform within the pressure of having to be hilarious or “mad”. Alas like us all, I think maybe we get more interesting as we age due to the gathering of life experiences. His Sunday independent magazine are gently thought provoking with often leave me with a gentle smile as I imagine the glint in his eye as he is writing the piece.

I don't know why a poetic reply. Tipping The Berg The unconscious thought I heard coming from deep waters below as a whale a spout might blow. In my mouth just sound nothing profound. Yet it seemed to impress the young lady well dressed. Who asked about the other side as her mother had just died. I can't remember exactly what came out of my head something about, honouring the dead, about the ghosts inside from whom we can't hide. She thanked me in her own polite kind of way. And I wished sometimes my unconscious had nothing to say, nothing at all as I walked down the hall.
