Tommy just gives so much of himself, how can you not to love him

There's absolutely no ulterior motive here. He's just a super nice and genuine person!

+Northernspotter101 Exactly what I do. He always has an encouraging word for anyone. No one plays like he does. Most guitars he signs, inspects are of a quality that doesn't come near his Matons, yet he always makes people leave feeling great about themselves and their gear. I find his positive attitude and happiness contagious. And the interpreter has absolutely nothing to do with me watching this video again. ;)

Tommy is one sweet patient giving dude. Even with this small group he gives his all, just makes ya smile watching all this.

His generosity of spirit and love of people is simply off the charts - what a classy guy.

A great man with his admirers. So down to earth and humble. One of the best the world has ever produced and a wonderful inspiration to many.

There are many musicians I appreciate, but I cannot imagine any one of them that I would actually want to spend time with more than Tommy Emmanuel.

Sat for 10 minutes straight with the biggest smile on my face. TE is an amazing player but an even more amazing person.

I got to meet Tommy Emmanuel at my uncles restaurant venue in Tulare California back when I was in middle school. Played Angelina for him as he sat and took in every detail, gave me corrections, told me I had a good ear and asked me questions about playing the guitar and what it meant for me…. 15 years later and that is the single most influential moment that helped inspire me to play today.

Thank you, Tommy, not only for your music, but for your generosity and kindness.

He is technically self-taught in some ways, but grew up learning to play guitar and was initially taught by (if I remember correctly) his mother at about 4 years old to accompany her when she played her lap steel guitar. His family had a band and went all over, basically. He grew up in a very musical family and had about as early of a start as he could possibly get to be an amazing guitarist. Self-taught in his own style, but he had tons of teaching from family and others growing up. He has traveled the world with other artists and hung out with all kinds of people, learned to play a variety of styles like Blues and such. I think he played bass at one point, as well. Former damned-good percussionist, which is also why he's so good at tapping on his guitar. Iron sharpens iron, but one piece has to be of a different shape (file) to do so against another (blade). Both pieces were similar flat pieces before being made into a file and a blade. I think Tommy would agree with that. You're a flat blade. Hone yourself with as many artists and music as you can, learn to play their songs by ear like Tommy did in his early years and continue to seek to be better. Playing is the first step, as Tommy would certainly tell anyone when they said they "wanted to put down their guitar when they saw him play". Typically Tommy responds with things like, "Don't do that, mate! It's not the guitar's fault!" and laughs. Gotta love this guy.

Tommy is so awesome. I love these meet and greet videos. The interpreter looks a bit like a young Angie Dickinson.

He is as giant a human being as he is a guitar player. One of God's gifts to the planet.

Томми лучший из них. Но они не все там такие. Архиповский Лёша - наше обаяние и генератор добра, чем вам плох. Но и мы тут не все, как Лёша. Всё довольно симметрично. Так, что не перегревайте тему.

Also don't forget that apparently when he first started he didn't know a bass guitar existed and hence learnt how to play the bass line at the same time. An amazing talent.
