you can also use a couple of cherry tomatos, slice them in the middle to 4 pieces and open them a bit, works very well as a tiny flower :)

Hi! Thanks for the question. If you blanched the tomato you wouldn't be able to peel it in a single firm strip. The more firm is the tomato, the best strip you get from it, firm and with regular edges. Bye! Rita

A good sharp paring knife is a must, I'd argue that a "regular cooking knife" is really not advisable for this at all... even if it happens to be sharp enough for the task, it is unwieldy and will make your task unnecessarily difficult. I use a set of three ceramic (incredibly sharp but delicate) paring knives. The less force you need to use the better, your knife should do all the work with almost no force required at all. You should find this does not squash the fruit at all : D

Video was a little long for what you're showing, but you did a good job on your peeling; peeling the skin all the way down is not as simple as it looks. Also, you should reply to some of your commenters' questions. @naturegirl, yes you can do this with any fruit/vegetable peel that is flexible enough, but tomatoes are easier since the flesh is softer and easier to carve through continuously rather than just taking out chunks.

Wow, really nice rose. But you could see on the 4 days old rose that it had aged; the edges had curled inwards a bit. Otherwise, magnificent!

  • @gragall78

it would look better if the tomato & mozzarella were formed in a circle and the rose placed in the middle with basil leaves(not bay leaves) placed underneath the rose. little tip from a chef, a good sharp vegetable peeler can also be used to peel the tomato nice and evenly;)

@beza1998 Actually my name is Rita Loccisano. At the very beginning of my blog I decided to chose a phantasy name because it was easier to be pronounced in English. But soon press and media began to talk about me whit my real name... so, in order to avoid confusion among my readers, I decided to let "Rosemary" go and use the name I have in the real life. As you can see, in my last videos (only in Italian at the moment) I introduce myself with my real name, Rita. Thank you all for your comments!
