If he was a full-time actor, he would've been equally legendary like he is in music.

Every comic could only wish for a character like him in their rosters.
Thanks Tom
Well done: I enjoy watching THANK YOU
This is so nicely done thank you! what a treat.
sublime prominent obscurity... that is Tom Waits
Fantastic video, thank you. Nice to see Wristcutters in there, if only because it is so wholly underrated and mostly forgotten.
- Love what you do, Tom. Shit, I'll have to live another 10 years to catch up on what I've missed. You bury yourself in these roles. Love your music but you are a better actor.
I'm the 600th like. I'm was busy working but I had to stop and pay attention to this essay. It captivated me. Bravo! Bravo!
Nice video, he was interviewed for Irish radio by Dave Fanning in 00s. He said, of his acting, as u mentioned, I'm not an actor, I do some acting, I'm like a plumber who does a bit of electrical, a farmer who writes poetry!
He was a sexy bad boy when he was young, super talented and in his old age, a magical man.
How does this not even have 2000 views?

I think he got permission to reupload it from the original channel, this video has been around for a while.
It takes scars to fully appreciate Waits. Maybe not all visible, but certainly ones from within.

god damn it now im gunna have to buy a bunch of his movies on ebay look what u made me do lol
Tom Waits sneaked in behind Lighnin' Hopkins and became a full time Performance Artist.
He either feels the heart of everyman, or none at all.
That ain't him on the cover of Rain Dogs, though. :)

@Abe Garfield It's does kinda look at least reminiscent of him. If you'd never really looked closely or thought about it I can understand why you might just assume it's a picture of Tom Waits on the cover of a Tom Waits album.

But he doesn't know he's an actor . He's just acting like an actor.
i drink another gin to Tom. chairs, uoops.
The only people who aren't aware of Tom Waits' genius already, both as a musician AND actor, are those who lack the intellect & sophistication to identify a genius, let alone appreciate one. Whether an acting gig is a lead role with impressive amounts of screen time, a supporting role with reduced on-screen presence, or a momentary bit part, his performance will be as eccentric, legendary, & memorable, as the character he chooses to play, and he will regularly "steal the movie". Even so, it would be tempting to assert that he's underrated, considering how many actors are famous & popular out of all proportion to their talent & ability. But this would be incorrect. He deliberately, selectively, & sparingly chooses the roles he plays and who he works with, limiting his appearances exclusively to those he knew would be special. He chooses not to pursue mainstream & popular recognition, because he's an outsider; an eccentric; a beatnik; he prefers the shadows of the underground scene where the Kool Kats are, to the glitz, glam, bright lights, and dim-wits of the popular scene where the famously mediocre are glorified & worshipped by their equally vacuous "fans". Those whose opinions are valid enough to matter rate him PLENTY high. Better to be the favourite of connoisseurs, than another whore of the masses! No offence meant to the "Ladies Of The Night", whose tolerant, charitable generosity & compassion for easing the longing of lonely men, is admirable, commendable, and I love & respect them far more for it, because they GENUINELY like us (men) even when we probably don't deserve it. I respect them far more, than so many women who THINK they're better than those Ladies, and better than the hopes of most men, particularly when they don't realise even a pleasing appearance alone can't justify their attitude. THEY are the TRULY overrated!
I ain't no extra baby
Seven Psychopaths should be in the top 5 as well as Coffee and Cigarettes
rain dogs album cover wasn’t him
TOM THEE TERRIFIC.
I feel identified but there'll be probably a bunch of other people that might think the same. On the contrary of Mr. Waits I'm nothing.
To the narrator: speak up or be dismissed.
Your narration had me leave.
I love Tom Waits. But I don't like the voice of the speaker here.
