Hearing Tom laugh makes me really happy.
I think Tom needs to be in What we do in the Shadows as the eldest vampire who operates Coney Island.
One of the best films of that era: " I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream!"

“Very strange woman, my mother.” 😂
That line "The world is a sad, and beautiful place, " is really.... perfect
In the late 90s I went to see Elvis Costello and saw that Tom Waits all by his lonesome sat behind us. I’ve been such a huge fan of Tom’s but was so proud of myself for not geeking out.

That’s funny… I went to see Tom Waits in Paris on the Mule Variations tour and Elvis Costello sat behind us

I saw this movie when I was young. Not so young anymore but I still have dreams and "hope and spontaneity in the future" as Waits said. And still love to listen to his music.
'My fondest memories are of making Down by Law... the best experience I ever had on a film production.' And it's his best film.
Zack, Jack and Bob, such a trio :)) I enjoy every scene of this movie, it’s a cinematic masterpiece, as everything else that Jim Jarmusch filmed 🎥
One of my favourite movies. Everyone's brilliant in it and Waits's DJ impressions are drily hilarious.
I like "Down By Law", but I love "Stranger Than Paradise", "Night On Earth", and "Dead Man", anyway both these two are amazing artists.
It is so soothing to hear them quietly debating about nothing. Tom Waits always comes up with spot on metaphors to explain his thoughts. It's like cinematic talking.
Ol Tommy Boy Waits ... my ALL-time favorite artist who creates music.
The hell, i own red pants and I am born, raised and am still living in St. louis. Waits tells no lies
it's a sad and beautiful world.
It is still one of my all-time favorite movies.
Great movie. Once you see it, you want to see it again and again. Wanting a part 2 also.
My fkn hero!!!
Lovely! For some reason Tom's speaking voice always throws me off, haha!
thanks for putting this up. really enjoyed this little conversation about one of my favorite films between two of my all time favorite people in the world .
this is such a gift. thanks Tom. you're the best.
Listening to this makes me happy.. thank you for that gift! 🙏
Brilliant
Fantastic
Awesome
Tom says it's 80 degrees, blue skies no wind but actually there was a hurricane that day. That's how Tom is
Tom Is such a huge gift to thé world ! ❤

Got me listening to Julie London again 😌

You mean you stopped?
Nice to hear.
Great Film
One of my all time favourite films.
That was a great video. I enjoyed listening to the conversation.
This is gold thank you for uploading 🙏
Thank you the eighties revisited.
"It takes a lot of courage to wear red pants. I've only seen that in St. Louis."
Wow, this is great!
I really wanted to watch this film 30 years ago or whenever it was. In all the interviews, Jim had this shock of silver hair and a big black trench coat and Franks Wild Years was barely off my turntable. Still haven't seen it though and I've no idea why...

Took me decades to finally watch it properly. The first time I tried, on video at a friend's in the late '80s, there was a guy there who was instantly bored by the film and wouldn't stop passive-aggressively talking about spectacular musical theatre productions he'd enjoyed. It was impossible to follow the movie. When I finally watched it a few years ago, it instantly became one of my top favourites.

@@JohnMoseley I'm pretty sure it had a limited release in Britain and that it's never been on the TV here either to my knowledge. I'd sort of forgotten about it until a couple of months ago when YT suddenly started putting clips my way. I'll have to check if I can stream it from somewhere - not the sort of thing Netflix puts out I would have thought!

@@tarqu1no39 Amazon has it to rent or buy, not too expensively. That's where I finally saw it. I recommended it to a friend the other night. A big Waits fan, but hadn't even heard of Jarmusch. He loved it. It was a fairly big deal in London when it came out, the kind of thing some teenage friends had posters for on their walls, which led me, in that bubble, to think of it as a hit in general. I admit it hadn't occurred to me it might be harder to see elsewhere. Yes, don't think it's ever been on TV here.
Good one Tom, Nice to hear fresh stuff, keep the wild spirit, all de way from Éire.
I gotta watch that film again. I've got the DVD... Somewhere. Might be buried under that pile of coffee table books I've never read. There was a time I flipped out and was trying to watch every Jarmusch film. I failed though. Too hard to find some of them. And as obsessed as I am over everything Tom Waits I still have to say Ghost Dog is Jim's best (of those I've seen). I need to watch that one again too.
🤗 un mito!
❤️
I like art.
Down By Law is a fantastic movie, I wish they had made a sequel :')
Oh ya, forgot... I remember " just standing on de corner, watching all girls ..." , can't find in me collection no more, from live NY early 70's maybe (bootleg tape) . Still sing some of it sometimes. No chance you'd have it, possibly. Keep on truckin'
I this case Bob, you’re looking AT the window.
Funny, I never knew this was around, and the day I find it, is the day I uploaded a phone call to me from Waits from the year Orphans came out. But don't forget the great Ellen Barkin is in this too...
Outstanding, “get you a case of beer for that one.” 😊🏴☠️
🔝🔝🔝🔝
video still says: "calls in 2002" video description says "Recorded in July 2022" My mind thinks it is from the 80s.

Tom is always on more or less so it’s hard to tell what is put on and what is not. But it’s still good to hear some of his insights if you will. To be honest, he often seems like he’s trying to make something out of nothing with Jim. That’s okay, but he gets more acclaim I suppose for it than most people for example here. Both guys though seem lost in a way but still trying to make the best of it with some bullshit sharing of the good all days not really saying a whole hell of a lot. What do old artists do I suppose trying to rationalize existence? Good actors here!
Recorded in July, 2002, not 2022.🧐😝😗
TOM THEE TERRIFIC !
Very cunning rabbit ! Da !
Garbage man on parade ? Doing a little squirrel hunting ?
