Glad to see the younger generation discovering Tom T Hall. One of the best song writers/story tellers on the scene back in the day.
I first heard Tom T. Hall on the radio when I was six-years-old and I asked my dad to buy his album for me. That was in 1978 and I'm still amazed by how great of a songwriter he was. For instance, how you can tell what the characters are thinking and feeling with just one line -- e.g., 'He said, "I turned sixty-five about eleven months ago."' (You can tell by that he's not in a hurry for sixty-six to come around.) Also: 'He told me all about it though I never answered back.' (When people are really eager to tell you about something, they're going to tell it to you no matter what you say.) A great song of his I recommend: 'Ballad of Forty Dollars.'
Sitting on my porch as it softly rains and listening to this sweet old song. I'll admit i shed a tear or two because i miss how this world used to be. There is a simplicity when it comes to what really matters in life to people.
Love Tom T. Hall, some of his other songs include: Ballad of Forty Dollars, A Week In A Country Jail, I Love

You seem to really like songs that tell a story...would love to see you with "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers and "Harper Valley PTA" (also written by Tom T. Hall!)
I love your honest reactions. Honest or professionally knowledgeable are the only kinds of reactions I like,, and I *love* yours. 🤗 If I might suggest, for your encouragement and listening pleasure: you might react to Avi Kaplan singing "Change On the Rise." Avi was the original bass for Penratonix until his mother got cancer. Between trying to keep up with Pentatonix' crazy pace and going back to be with his family every chance he could he got burnt out. It was a choice between asking his colleagues and friends to lose their momentum so he could spend more time with his family or seeing his family even less than he already did. He chose to leave the group to be with his family more and feed his soul, so they now have Matt Sallie. "Change On the Rise" is one of the songs Avi has written since leaving them.
Check out “I Like Beer”
