Okay, if you really want to know more about these guys, here are some basic facts and names: two German bands: Int the first room we have AnnenMayKantereit (AMK) from Cologne, Germany, with singer Henning May (the cutie in the brown t-shirt and the deep voice), Christopher Annen (guitar), Severin Kantereit (percussion) - that's where the strange name of the band comes from, it's just the family names of the three founding members: Annen, May and Kantereit -, Malte Huck (bass) and Ferdinand Schwarz (trumpet); in the second room we have Giant Rooks from Hamm, Germany, with Frederic Rabe (the singer with the longish hair and the somewhat higher voice), Finn Schwieters (guitar), Finn Thomas (drums), Jonathan Wischniowski (e-piano) and Luca Göttner (the Elvis lookalike on bass). Later Giant Rooks are joined by the AMK people, who come into the room without their instruments - except for Ferdinand, who takes his trumpet with him. The two bands toured together in early 2019, and the video was made during that tour by Lenny Rothenberg and Marius Möller. Henning May was 27, when the video was made, but rather looks like 17 in it. 2011, after graduating from high school, AnnenMayKantereit began as buskers, playing in the streets of their home town Cologne. Giant rooks wurden mir im Radio 2020 als schon ganz groß mit etlichen Hits beschrieben, dabei hatten sie zu dem Zeitpunkt noch nicht mal ihr Debutalbum draußen, und der Song der im Radio gespielt wurde war grausam meiner Meinung nach. AMK haben evtl. ein oder zwei gute Songs aber es ist halt auch relativ viel Zeug dabei was mir gar nichts gibt. Sie haben es geschafft Singer/Songwriter Zeug als Band zu machen.

AMK is one of my favourite German bands, Henning's voice is awesome. You might like to hear them sing in German, then "ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen" (Proberaum Session) might be right for you. But all their songs are great ❤Love from Germany ❤

He's cute, skinny, quirky, amazing singer/songwriter and overall my favorite person in the world right now - he's Henning May, and the rest of the band is just as talented & fantastic (the drummer Severin makes me smile every time I see his face). The members of the band AnnenMayKantereit really are close friends, they have been playing together since high school. Watch any of their live performances, and you'll see the same chemistry.

His voice isn't low. He's singing a high baritone or regular tenor range, higher than many guys can sing. But yeah, really awesome texture

His very first note 'AND' is an F# above middle C. Which is the highest note I can reasonably hit as an untrained baritone. Maybe you just have a better range I probably should have said 'higher than some guys can even sing'

Actually imo the covers are the weakest of AMK's works. Not that i would consider them bad, but in fact i do enjoy their german songs way more. No place for their great songwriting and lyricism skills to shine in a cover naturally. But hey, as an entry for the international audience to AMK, the english covers for shure are more accessible.

MUCH better is: 'Barfuss am Klavier'! (most like Toms Diner in a way, but they would usually not repeat listen to it, because the point of that is more of a voice effect compilation - apart from that nothting special. But they WOULD more often than not keep listening to 'Barfuss am Klavier', because ist just a sad and bitter sweet plain piano accompanied song (which also demonstrates the voice of Henning May much better). Its also interesting how different different band fans are. Some are really not so good with proposing the best songs (or versions), other bands have sometimes almost perfect choices. AMK fans are not very good with that ...

Loved the original, this... not so much.

Interesting. I always considered Suzanne Vega's version to be pretty bland, and this version saved the song for me somehow. But hey, tastes are different, luckily.

Tastes differ, thank God. Otherwise the world would be boring and grey. But that shouldn't stop us from remaining polite and respectful. 🤗🤗 Apart from the fact that the video alone has almost 150 million views with over 2.7 million likes, I liked both versions.😊

Not that good. But that maybe because I do not like both artists. AnnenMayKantereit literally has a song in german where he repeatedly sings "If you dont know where to go come to me" but how can you do that if you dont know? The giant crooks are too much pop for me.

@@MM-lg4ni No sorry I really dont like it. The original was/is better. Like I said Kantereit may have some good songs but I heard some really weird stuff I dont get. Giant rooks are just Generation Z softwashed Pop without any edges and I dont like music without edges.

Sounds like a deeper/raspier Huey Lewis lol!

As with almost all covers, they can't beat the original. I wish you would've listened to Suzanne Vega's original.

Interesting. For me Suzanne Vega's original was always some kind of bland, tho i considered the song to have a great, but yet unutilised potential. This version somewhat saved the song for me. But hey, differing tastes and so on.
