I made it my husband didn't, he overdosed in February, 3 little kids without their Dad. It hurts that I'm sober and he couldn't get it. Almost 5 years sober. Truth, pain, and soul was put into this song.

Caitlin I'm so sorry for your loss. I have loss 2 people in the last 6 weeks to the disease of addiction I was close to and 6 over the last 7 years. The only thing we can do as survivors is live by honoring their memory with a living amens of sobriety. We know that when a person is in full on addiction that, that's not really them. Actually, it's so effective because besides giving up alcohol a few years back, Tom just gave up smoking about a week ago and said that he's going through a really rough patch mentally because of the withdrawals; writing this gave him something to focus on and helped him keep his head above water. He's also struggled with his mental health and anxiety for years, so it's an ongoing thing for him. He works so damn hard because that helps him cope.

Tom always cared about his peoples. I respect the hell out of him for that.

He’s such a beautiful soul and we are so lucky and blessed he chose to get better because we have a poet you can really change the world 🌎 in my opinion with his music! #HOG4Life

For a slow soft song this hits hard lyrically. For someone who works a program of recovery this is truly a 12th step song. Praise to Tom McDonald for giving back with some service work using his talent. He has to be one of the most misunderstood artist today. He seems to be one of those people you either love or hate, but if you just give him a chance and listen to the message he is trying to get across I think you would agree he is very intelligent as well as talented! I knew you'd come around eventually. He's not everyone's taste and I respect that. If it weren't for Tom I would never have come back to this genre of music. When You leave the party scene you leave the music behind as well. I don't want to hear music about drinking, doing drugs, having sex and partying anymore. Tom is literally what the world needs. Yes, he talks about the stuff that people are too scared to say, but he also puts out songs that individuals really need to hear when it comes to struggling. I am 60 yrs old, had different addictions over the years. In the 80's it was acid, cocaine, and meth--at times. I was the acid queen of my town...bragging----no, just facts. In the 90's it was cocaine a grand a day p my nose--again wasn't paying for it, just profits. Also drank a fifth of mescal and half a case of beer a day during the 90's. I quit cold turkey--everything, except beer. Been sober since 1995 I still fight with it because the root cause of my addiction set of the PTSD. Recently, addicted to oxys and ativan after cancer surgery--that was just NASTY. Now, I have liver disease and with recent issues have been eyeing up the bottle again. Tom is amazing--he is so true in what he says. FACT. Tom is my fav ARTIST and that's saying a lot since I have been around since Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, etc. were rocking it.

Addiction is tough to beat. It's good to know that others are having strength to get up to press forward. Good reaction.

What a fantastic song! What a great message. Many many of us especially since the lockdown have experience some kind of pain pertaining to this. Tom is letting people know they're not alone. That's what popular artists should do. Kudos Tom. Kudos. And not really brother. The doctors created the heroin epidemic for real. They prescribed all them pain pills and then stopped prescribing them. The price of the pills went up to 80 bucks on the street and a bag of heroin is $10. That's what happened. I was a social worker for the Suboxone program for many years. It's disturbing

I didn't battle drug addiction, but I battled alcohol. I grew up with a horrible childhood myself. I joined the Army, and my alcohol addiction took off from there. It got worse in my early adulthood, and my life spiraled out of control, when I went to Iraq in 2003. I did, however, got kicked out for pot and alcohol, but I was able to rejoin the Army, four and a half years later. That wouldn't have happened, until my wife told me she was pregnant with my first child. I quit cold turkey. Now, I'm law enforcement, rejoined the Army, graduated from college (twice), and ready to retire from the military. I feel the pain.

One of the things many people don't realize when they are going through substance withraws is that if you take yourself off for awhile, your body doesn't just get sick. Your tolerance for that thing goes down as well. When you relapse during withraws, your usual dose is now an overdose and with your body in a weakened state, it kills. The body goes into a state of shock and depending on the substance or pre-existing conditions like anxiety for example? The mind as well. Either way, you will never be the same again even if you survive.

I related bug on this song cause went through alllllll that and I went and got help and I’ve been clean and sober for 2 years now

Memories of his breakdown. He still can't forgive himself for what he put his parents through. He said it was all he could do to force down one egg a day during that time. He said two words a day. His mom would come in from work and ask how it was going and he would answer, "Not good". This was a 9 month withdrawal nightmare that happened several years ago.

I've never been an addict. I've never been through withdrawals. But with simple wording, he made me feel the emotions of going through withdrawal as if it was me. Tom is very clever with his writing style but, this one is different. He bleed for us to see.

I deleted every number from my phone... over 5 years ago... it symbolizes change... true change.. you remove people that you love, because you know that they could be detrimental to your own healthiness.. it's sad. I miss people from then... but I can't allow them in my life. I get this song on a different level. New people, new places, new things,... I escaped an abusive relationship. I also chose a new reality.. I fought tooth and nail. I have regrets, I try and learn from my mistakes, I'm not perfect, but I try to do better every day.

My mum is on the edge. An alcoholic. She’s due to go to rehab, if she can last long enough. Life throws punches at you……but remember…….it’s also punching someone else, and usually harder!! OMG i know that feeling ! Heroin withdrawal , the restless legs and arms , so sick you just wanna sleep but the restless legs wont let you rest . Ughhh . That was the worst ! A hot shower would calm it down for maybe 20 minutes but then you back to it . I understand that nightmare . after feeling like that after two weeks and still it aint better ? Knowing 20 bucks can fix that issue in 20 seconds its hard not to do . But by the grace of God im over 4 years clean . i may still drink some but i can deal with that ! Tom knows !

The song Angels is a lot like this. Very good!!
