I like the Tom grooves. That's one of my favorite part on the kit is making a Tom groove. I try to get some Tom grooves from Christian songs and then practice on the kit at church. Thanks, cool lesson, you make it easy to learn.

Hi Eric. I’m curious why you wouldn’t use a second tom. Wouldn’t this give you more variation in your play?

Sometimes I do! But this is was my setup I was using musically for sometime. Also if you can get good playing on a 4 piece than it’s even easier and more fun when you add more toms!

What about this in a song context? I don’t hear a song in my head with this, do you guys? How about adding a little keyboard to fill it out? Sounds cool tho. 👊🏻

Totally works in a song context and remember once you learn the grooves you can always tweak it to make it work in a variety of setting by making some small changes like maybe different kick pattern, or change up the snare placement. Good note on the keyboard! I can totally throw that in another time.

These grooves should work in a musical context as a bridge . Or to announce any change in music. Like a way to change the groove before or after a chorus for example. Good luck
