What a stunning performance to open the series with! Tom's musicality is out of this world! He is a natural mover, he was totally into the beat, his partnership with Amy was marvelous and his bright and optimistic personality came through the dance and it was an absolute joy to behold. He has it all to go to the final. Good sense of rhythm is the key to succeed in dancing, and Tom has an outstanding one! He needed to have a tad more hip action in places and also work on his arms and on his balance while doing spins, but haven't said that his cha cha was so neat, sharp, crisp... it made me smile from ear to ear all the way through! If he works on polishing some technical aspects - he will shine brighter than a diamond! My score: a 6.

So proud of Tom! I bet his kids are loving seeing their dad dancing! ✨

I really enjoyed this. Tom was giving off cool nerd Kevin from Grimsby vibes in this dance! Small transitions make my day, so I will forgive him the shonky forward basic for the roll of his free hand as he went into the New Yorker :) He looks comfortable from the off and that makes for an enjoyable performance.

Tom and Amy had nice performance hope they feel better soon and they can perform in week 3!

I honestly thought He deserved more than a 4. He deserved a round of either 6's or 7's in my most honest opinion. I'm no dance expert, but, he's got rhythm and in dancing Rhythym counts, it's more than half the battle and with rhythm you stand a pretty good chance of doing well. He's very lucky to have Amy Dowden. She's gorgeous, she's amazingly talented, she's got a radiant smile, she's down to earth, she's lovely and I love her so much. I hope they're both ok since testing positive for covid.

I thought they were both brilliant last night. I loved their performance and I love the song they danced to. I like earth, wind and fire. September is my favourite song by Earth Wind and Fire.

6 Tom definitely shows promise, as I'd expected. Obvioulsy he's naturally very musical and rhythmic. I also think he seems confident and knows how ro perform outward (hitting all his lines, extending). The main problems were with his hip and leg actions, which were rather stilted and didn't seem to connect and flow in the dance. Also agree with what Craig said about the spins and little flourishes that at times looked a tad awkward and untidy. He'll be a contender I'm sure though, probably in both ballroom and latin

Excellent rhythm and he moves in time to the music. Some nice hip action there. Legs need to loosen up a little. Routine needs just a bit more polishing. But those New Yorkers were fantastic and fun. His energy is great. Score - 5

He won't be in this Saturday show but he is in the 3rd week as he and Amy are self isolating as they both have tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday

My nine year old granddaughter wants tom's books for xmas.

Really good rhythm and musicality and shows great potential. Needed a bit more time to work on technique and polish the routine but not a bad start. 5

I thought it was a very good first performance. The cuban breaks were excellent, the Cha Cha walks from the waist down looked lovely and the locksteps were clean. There wasn't much hip action and it was lacking fluidity, aswell as that it needs to be more characterized with the dance, I feel that his personality in all the dances could be the same boyband type style which you can get away with in a Cha Cha but not in other dances so that needs sorted. Good side by side work and the solo sections were all very very good. I look forward to this partnership as I think Tom has so much to give and Amy is rather lovely :3! *6/10*

He did amazing! It just needs some tiny work. But overall, I loved it!!

Oof, didn't do as good as I expected, but he is good enough. And if the tour is done, he will surely improve. He just needs to loosen up. He was pretty tense.

He did a few heel lead which in lati no. He's too light in his bottom half. Put weight into hips into legs into feet which will also help straight legs. Good at pointing toes, good hip potential and switches weight comfortably with great rhythm.

Either he needs to build up his energy or Amy needs to slow down hers. Seemed like he wasn't doing much and she was doing loads. Judging from previous years, the pros do this when they expect the partner not to do a good job.

@@charlotted1321 Charlotte, if you learn to ride a bike as a child but don't do so for 15 yrs, you don't forget how to ride a bike.. you do learn various types of dance at stage school including ballroom. It's an advantage over a novice dancer. Same with Maisie smith and Danny mac and many others who have previously been on the show. They start the series at a much better level than the others who are untrained and who gradually get better.

Decent hip action for week one, but he needs to work on loosening up. My big issue was his stiffness, especially in his upper body. (6)

What why so low scores

On this week’s episode of “overmarked by Motsi”…

He was flat footed throughout and his face wasn`t into it either ....where was the hip action ....4

uhm, for going first he did a good job. I think it’s just Amy that I dislike. Her choreo never seems to impress me, but I guess that’s just my opinion. he did great though.
