Laughed out loud. Great piece. When I get to face my Creator, the first question that I will ask is "why cockroaches?". I hate 'em with a passion.

I once had a legion of the bloggers on a yacht based in Barcelona. The only way that worked for me was empty two deodorant cans under the bilge and cupboards, remove all food and crumbs off the boat and put on deck. Go out for 5 hours for the evening with all hatches open. Then all gone never returned.

Can't say I've tried it, but there is an apparently excellent product, Called "Combat". Nicknamed the, cockroach Hotel.

No cardboard boxes on the boat ever!!! Cockroaches do fly!!! Rats : another problem as they climb up the chain or any rope hanging over the side.

I sprayed a cockroach last night with some clear engine enamel,,it was big,,in Charleston,they call it palmetto bugs,as to not frighten the ladies,,,don’t feedem,,

Roaches don't transmit human diseases, but we have evolved to find insects naturally repulsive. I guess your mate knew this, and had become inured to them!
