Very entertaining Tom, with the hint of excitement.... due the risk of Ros coming across this particular memoir.

Good to hear Tom that you base the scope ratio (3:1, 4:1 etc) on the water depth and not on the depth plus the deck roller height as a miss reading of the US coast guard recommendations means many US boating guides suggest way too much rode for a given depth. Bad news in a crowed anchorage. Cheers Warren.

Jolly useful, thanks Tom. And I assume the dog also approved at 8:42!

A good story and some good advice on 'digging in'. I presume a Watch will be required when the tide or wind turns - usually at 2.30am!

I sail onto my anchor snubbing the rode when I have my scope. Bow spins around, luff the sheets and that's that. 35# CQR. No windless. I use 25' of chain. The length from the anchor roller to the jib winch.

I once had a danforth shaft -stretch- to a half inch thick diameter from a two by 1/2 in , Lee shore , big wind , 3 angkers out on a 30 ft try, We were actually completely out of the water in the gust like a kite , shit myself, Kept to monos after that
