    watching the robo-hands replicate Tom's borderline physically impossible left hand movements as though they're totally normal chords is really funny

    Actually for the majority of it, his hands just follow the original chord progression from the piece he was site reading when he played this. He’s just improving with his right for the majority of it Edit: also that style of having the left hand jump around is a staple in ragtime music.

  • @PiotrBarcz

    @PiotrBarcz

    Those left hand movements aren't physically impossible at all, Tom's style in the left hand is fairly easy notewise but technique wise of course it's hard to get his sound. Tom's left hand was like a shotgun and he used sustain pedal for volume as well as blending of harmony.

    @@PiotrBarcz yeah but easy is not doing it will little to no mistake, its doing it without ANY mistake and tom brier is good at that which makes me believe he is one if not the best ragtime player of all time.

  • @PiotrBarcz

    @PiotrBarcz

    @@masterofbrawlstar6789 Without any mistake requires precision, I can play that left hand pattern no problem and I'm one of the lesser pianists I know. It comes down to getting the tone that you want, hitting notes without any mistakes is the easy part, it's getting a good sound that is far more difficult.
