Great punt but on 3rd down? Why!? Guess it's less risky to put the ball back into Tebow's hands than risk a fumble return for a TD on a draw play.

This play is so incredible that watching it made me cry so uncontrollably I had to exit out of KZread and take over 45 minutes to calm down and stop shaking enough so that I could come back (without playing the video of course) and make this comment talking about how incredible and clutch it was. I mean, out of position?! Gosh, I'm thinking about it too much cause I'm sobbing again. You are forgoing the chance at keeping the ball to gain about 10 yards. BUT at the end of a 2 score game, it could make sense. OR if you have a QB with a monster leg, you could get yourself off the 10 yard line. So yes, it could be used in a couple cases, but not really that many

If it's 4th down and less then 5, yes. Force the defense to play you honest = no return man back deep. It's pretty common in high school ball.

Only a quarterback can make the ball spiral from a punt

It's crazy to think about what could have happened had Brady not made this play. The Broncos had all the momentum. If Denver got the ball back with favorable position, it was all over. If it's a regular punt, it's too likely that it might be a touchback. 4th and 10 is too risky to try to convert. On top of that, this was the last year of Brady's contract. Rumors were swirling about friction between him and Belichek, and word was that Brady would be switching teams. If he lost to a tight end in the divisional round, it's unlikely he stays a Patriot, and maybe he doesn't win all those extra rings (especially the 28-3 Falcons one) and he isn't the undisputed GOAT.
