Tom Bilyeu: From Broke & Sleeping On The Floor To A $1 Billion Business!

This episode is part of our USA series, over the coming weeks you will get to see some incredible conversations with guests the likes of which we’ve never seen before. Bringing more value, more incredible stories, and more world-beating expertise.
Tom Bilyeu is the host of Impact Theory, one of the biggest podcasts in the world, and the co-founder of Quest Nutrition, the company that’s now valued at over $1 billion which revolutionised protein bars and supplements.
It took Tom a long time to find something he was good at that he enjoyed. Tom was sleeping on mattresses and friends floors, now he’s a multi-millionaire. Why? Because he says you can literally remould your brain to what you want.

Hi Steven, I watched the entire podcast and I enjoyed it, it was great but I do have one criticism. I read the thumbnail which states "HOW ANYONE CAN BUILD A $1B BUSINESS" and I read the title which states "Tom Bilyeu: From Broke & Sleeping On The Floor To A $1 Billion Business". I watched this podcast because we are just starting a small business and I am looking for advice about building a successful business. I feel like this podcast was about a happy home life and working on yourself(which I know people are going to say you have to work on yourself to have a successful business, and they are correct!), but I am looking for business advice and I feel like your thumbnail and title are clickbait. Maybe I missed something but how are the things the two of you talked about going to build a $1B(or even successful) business? If I missed something please explain it to me because I really want to understand! Thank you and I'm still going to keep watching your podcast.

This is probably your best episode so far, Tom has interviewed so many bright minds, I remember he used to listen more than speak and slowly started adding his own takes on topics. It is fascinating how he managed to absorb everything like a sponge and put it so nicely together, not just information itself but as a philosophy of living. He comes forward not as a thought leader but as a student of life, very strong but very humble. I imagine Steven will reach this point of having all the answers further down the line of interviewing more and more people, as he also approaches topics with curiosity, perhaps with a critical view compared to early days Tom. Some people can learn from others and form their reality like Tom, some can only change what's embedded in them by seeing and living it themselves. As Tom mentioned he believes we are cyclical we are the same, different types but same thing. I think Steven is on the side of believing we are all in a way intrinsically different. Would be great to attend the show. I am not sure how subscribing on its own would give me the opportunity, in 486k subscribers how do you pick and know who is in London and available? Thanks.

What truly resonated is it is my genuine joy is seeing people succeed. It nourishes me. I don't want my agonizing loneliness to become my identity. My personal responsibility is to acquire skills and/ or implement the ones I have to WHAT! Not create a billion dollar company. I somewhat consoled knowing i bless. I make moments good for others, ( and consequently myself), when I'm with that gym mate, instructor, cashier etc. But I NEED to do more. My selfish desire is good company that isn't contingent upon me serving or slaving. But anything I do to create a better experience for others because inside I know SOMEHOW I can.

How lucky I feel to have watched and listened to this gentleman, Mr Tom. What a fortune. Millions need to hear this in South Africa. I’m viewer 156,562 IN THE WHOLE WORLD! I vow I will spread the word to my manufacturing hub incubatees ….and to townships and rural areas where I go around upskilling entrepreneurs.

Tom is such an expert in communicating simply and crystal clearly. It's easy to understand every single point. Perhaps because he's gone over it in his head obsessively until it makes sense to him.

I totally and wholeheartedly agree with you that Tom is the absolute best! I'm in awe of his IT podcast, his deep listening skills and insights. His story telling, his passion, his inspiring relationship with Lisa, his kindness. He is top notch in motivational community and self exploration space. I didn't know how much Lisa has influenced the person he has become. I knew she had a hand in it, but it now makes even more sense why she is his number one priority. BTW, you two on the same platform is genius. Both of your interviewing skills are extraordinary and this interview and conversation was pure bliss. Thank you. ❤️

The difference between Tom and Lewis perspective is because Tom has been married for 2 decades, they built a life, business and future together. You cannot have the same expectations when you just start.

What a man! Never heard of him before but so refreshing with so honest people like him! And I agree 110% that our diet is the big elephant in the room when it comes not only to anxiety but a lot of other issues as well! E.g. depression and skin diseases! Went Carnivore some 4 months ago and my anxiety disappeared literally in minutes and my mood is a lot more stable!

Tom is very inspiring. he has so much to share. I don't feel this was a conversation though. He didn't answer questions specifically, he repeated what he already rehearsed, and mind you, what he's rehearsed is fantastic but it could have been more of a conversation, makes for a better listen

Well said! We are all the same! You name it I tried everything and kept running with my adhd mind but wow I enjoy learning :) I think the biggest tragedy is the labels society assigns us and these can have catastrophic effects especially if we compare. We can basically feel like we are always searching for something outside of us and there will always be something missing. That is not the key to happiness. The key to happiness is not outside of us. The key is accepting ourselves for who we are AND OTHERS... Being open to others we trust, trusting our feelings inside and being able to set healthy boundaries. Communication is the route; intuition is the messenger, and the feelings are the pathway.
