Met him backstage after a show with 3 of my kids. He took the time to shake everyone's hands with pictures as well. He was the only one to do that. We tried to stick around to see the others but they were busy drinking so we left. My other 4 kids were astounded that we met him and were pleased that to know what a great guy he is. Slayer forever. R.I.P. Jeff.

They came here to Huntington, wv with some other bands years ago. I didn't go because I couldn't get out of work. My friend David went, then when he was leaving he went out back where the busses were parked, and there was Tom on his phone. He saw my friend and held up his finger till he got off the phone. Then he asked what do you need? Dave said just to meet you. He hung out with Slayer, got his shirt signed and they showed him the bus. He said they were all really nice.

Who wants to be screamed at. Or listen to someone scream. We do. Hahaa. Listened to Tom scream for 30 years now. 31 years ago listened to anthrax. Lmao. Went right to slayer. Now I'm all over the joint. Looking for some hollowed screams.

Eh, to be honest I have no idea who Bryan Stars is. I like Graham, I think he does good interviews, generally asks good questions and he definitely does not personally annoy me, in fact I really like him and I bet he would be a really fun guy to hang out with and geek out about all things loud and heavy. Agree that you should listen to everything. You don't have to like everything but you should give it a chance.
Saw them play with Anthrax here in Adelaide, Australia in March 2019 on their farewell tour, and the way Tom stood there for about ten full minutes after their last song, just smiling and soaking up all the love from the crowd.. it was truly something special. Awesome.
JRE needs to bring Tom to his show. I feel like I'm watching a student giving a practice interview with his teacher.

What a legend
Dave was right after all. $44 million, I think he said, made on a touring year, and Dave got $75,000 and the rest just over $100,000. Who works harder than Dave? When no one would listen to him, he went public. That's no reason to fire the guy, the only standout musician in the band and the creator of thrash metal drumming. Dave did nothing wrong and its nice to see Tom -- sort of -- agreeing.

Yes, Jeff was so important but witout Tom, there will be no Slayer anymore..his voice is the spiritual side of Slayer, and without that Slayer cannot move forward
I love him he always gots the giggles !!!
Caught them in Vegas in August and they were fucking amazing! People were screaming his name after the last song. What an experience....
I was lucky enough to meet Tom behind the Riviera nightclub in Chicago... We got to the Slayer show really early and we were hanging out watching the Roadies unload the equipment and lo and behold there's Tom...we came up to him and said hi and he was really cool... I asked him if he could play at dawn they sleep for an old Slayer Fan and they did play it that night.
Tom is so nice, laid back, its his personality that shines through!
Tom is the happiest guy in metal. I would love to hear what a Slayer record would sound like with Gary contributing riffs...
I seriously hope they don't stop touring yet. I've only recently gotten into metal and I've already missed my chance to see two great bands in Motörhead and Sabbeth. I'd hate to miss out on seeing the kings of thrash as well.
FUCKING SLAYER
Tom's the kind of guy you could receive an awesome and warm hug from
Tom seems like a very nice and joyful person
“This is something that started off as something that you want to do because you want to do it” - Tom Araya
This is exactly what Lombardo was saying and he got shit canned for it. Tom Araya threw him under the bus for bringing up the very stuff he himself just brought up now. I don't feel bad for him for being ripped off because he was warned and turned his back on the greatest thrash drummer of all time.
@Ds14n

That's my guess too, I was about to comment that. Very sad situation..
@Gregbaltzer
6 жыл бұрын
According to Tom that's not what they canned him for. Kerry was worried that all this money talk would become a problem while on the Australian tour so they sidelined Dave until the tour was over and then they could settle it, but at that point Dave wasn't fired. Meanwhile Dave went and aired his issues, and the band's business in detail, all over facebook, that's what got Tom pissed off. Tom felt it was a private matter and that Dave shouldn't have aired his issues on Facebook. After that Tom, Kerry, and Jeff all talked and decided to fire Dave. That's why if you're having problems with your job you shouldn't announce it all over facebook. Even here you can tell Tom is a private person and doesn't want to make band business public, he's very vague in his answers here. Dave made everything public and got fired for it.
@ozricness
6 жыл бұрын
Sounds totally plausible. It's so sad that one of the, if not THE, best thrash metal bands of all time is now reduced to ammo for lawyer battles. Not to mention hired guns taking the part of integral, celebrated band members.
@Gregbaltzer
6 жыл бұрын
Same shit happened with Greg Christian and Testament. Greg was complaining that he hadn't had a raise in 8 years since rejoining the band, and that the band was doing better. That Chuck was flying around in first class, while he was in couch. Greg went even as far as posting his tax return forms on facebook showing that he was only making $35,000 a year. You can tell that Tom doesn't like that it's become a business, but that's the reality of being in a long term band that employs a lot of people. Slayer isn't just 4 guys, they employ a lot of people who work for them and help make Slayer a machine. It sucks that it becomes a business, but you can't last for 30 years if it doesn't.
@MrJeezus

I feel you. But I would think any band would work their damnedest to keep the greatest thrash drummer of all time in their band.
SLAYER HAS JUST ANNOUNCED A FINAL TOUR FOR 2018..HEARTBREAKING BUT THEY WILL BE MISSED ...SLAYYYYYER🤘
Always honest. Thank you sir for years and years of badassery. Dude you deserve to do WHAT THE FUCK EVER YOU WANT TO
Tom is such a gorgeous man. Love his laugh tooLegend of Music to me as well. At dawn they sleep!!! 🔥
Watching this after one of the final tour shows. Going to miss them. To bad they couldn’t work out the business stuff
Love these old rockers! I worked with a guy who is friends with the whole Foghat band. He prefers the classic rock, but can play some thrash if he wanted too. Just the coolest guys to hang out and BS with.
I would absolutely love to go on a double date with Tom, he would be so funny
I didn't get to see slayer for the first time until I was 39! still the best metal band! I get sooo pumped! hitting the mosh pit over 40 is hard but I give it and take it in the pit as much as anyone else there! the best is when those big build ups start in the big songs and everyone in the pit stops to hear it and waits for that big hit to just tear into each other! so amazing!
The stuff that they didnt take care of is the money..... Lombardo , when he left the band 5-6 years ago , said that the managers have been ripping them of for the past 30 years. Thats what they need to take care of now. It's so sad that money interferes with music , really
Thanks Tom for the music
Isn’t the legal stuff he’s talking about exactly what Dave Lombardo was trying to get fixed?!
First time I see him talk seriously. Looking forward to seeing him in 2 months! 🤘

hey Loudwire, perhaps it would be a good idea to properly edit the sound on these videos... Someguy528 That's what I gathered from Dave's interviews too for the most part. They have been so successful, I hope the band hasn't been taken advantage of for all these years. It reminds me a little of when Lemmy told everyone not to buy a series of Motorhead's re-released stuff.
@Gregbaltzer
6 жыл бұрын
Part of Dave's complaint to Kerry was that they were all underpaid, and that management, and everyone else, was taking too much of the band's money. What got Dave fired was that he went of facebook with all of this and talked about it. Sadly when Dave left the band(twice), he gave up his rights as a band member and came back as a contract musician. Tom believes in keeping band business behind closed doors where it belongs.
@youngn9na92
6 жыл бұрын
moremetalthanyou71 Ya I can definitely understand Tom's position about keeping things behind closed doors I wouldn't want folks knowing my business. I really hate that he gave up his rights. If I was an artist I would want to hold onto them as much as possible, but things happen.
@AlucardsQuest
6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it's only that, because he mentioned Jeff. There could be some issues with ownership of master tapes, making sure that Jeff's legacy as a songwriter still brings money to his estate, making sure the Kerry/Jeff split is accurate as well as Tom's portion as eventual lyricist... because they earn their money playing the songs live partially based on who wrote them, and then theres royalties from the classic albums stemming from continued sales, or funds from streaming sites and radio play.
This man is my hero

Interesting. Wasn't some of this what Dave was saying in 2013? Regarding the business end.
Sad kinda seeing him start too dislike touring n such.. I seen them 3 times in 2 years and you can tell he's over it.. but they still bring a great show 🔥🔥🔥
