7:15 I love slayer, period. Dave Lombardo is a kickass drummer, one of the best ever. I’ve only been able to see slayer perform once, but it was the original band and they played Reign in Blood back to back. Magical! That same night I saw Slipknot with all the original members, and Joey Jordison was on fire. While slayer played Joey stood on the side watching his hero Dave play, he was mesmerized just like the rest of us. That night is something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. Two of my favorite bands playing the same stage, and the opening act was not disappointing either: Mastodon. 🤘🏻🇸🇪🤘🏻

I saw the video for War Ensemble back when i was 11 and that was pretty much it for me. I already had the first four Metallica albums along with Peace Sells and Rust in Peace. Seasons in the Abyss showed me how sinister the genre could get. It's almost tame by today's standards but compared to almost everything else it sounded positively evil. What a lot of people missed was that the songs weren't glorifying all that stuff. They weren't written to say "Hey this is really cool. You should do this." The subtlety was lost to people who said it was actually Satanic or encouraged violence. Also, Dave's playing on the song Seasons in the Abyss is what got me to start paying attention to what the drummer was doing instead of just the guitars and vocals. He really pushed the envelope. They did him a bit dirty on the business side of things. As far as I'm concerned he was an integral part of what made their ewrly work so iconic.

For those who have not met Kerry King he's not the friendliest or nicest guy (putting it mildly). That's what they tell you when you make it as a musician. While you'll never remember speaking with a fan they'll never forget.
