Tokyo, Japan: how I got my hair braided here!

I finally got my hair braided in Japan and the experience was 100000/10! I would HIGHLY recommend getting your hair done at Mami's salon if you're looking for a stylist in Tokyo.

This is fabulous! We're moving to Japan at the end of this month and I've been collecting possible braiders for the future. I understand that tipping is not a thing in Japan, but did you tip for your hair?

Thanks for sharing this experience. If I let it, my hair would be my biggest worry while bopping around the globe. Good to know there is at least one person in Japan that braids, in case I decide to visit.

Hi Misako, I've been watching your videos for some years now and appreciate the perspective you bring to this platform. I was wondering if you had an opinion on cultural appropriation as it pertains to braids. Different braiding styles have roots in different cultures. I have always been into box braids, and the culture and people they come from, but have never had them as an adult due to concerns of culture appropriation. This is a complex topic but if you are open to sharing your perspective I would appreciate that.
