My friends think I'm crazy for throwing my tooth brushes out if I forget to hide it when they come over and use my bathroom. One friend who knows of my concern even said "oh don't worry I just peed". Like oh you only pissed on my toothbrush? Oh well that's fine.

I hope you realize that toothpaste is antibacterial, so you're cleaning your toothbrush every time you use it. The bacteria comes from leaving your tooth brush wet after using it, which allows the few surviving bacteria to recolonize the bristles. The bacteria comes from your own mouth, not from your guests using the toilet.

When I was stationed in Okinawa Japan mid 90s I lived in a 3 bedroom house downtown and the hallway had two doors along it. One had a sign in English and Japanese "Bathroom", and inside was a 4 foot deep stainless steel bathtub big enough for 2 people inside a ceramic tiled area with a brass drain for whatever water splashed out of the tub, also there was a combination washer dryer machine that both washed and then dried the clothes inside it, (you did not have to remove clothes from one part and put them in the other part, it was one machine that did it all, lots of buttons on it in Japanese and I had ask the Japanese lady at the housing agency explain them and I made labels in English the buttons), and a large sink and mirror. . The second door was labeled "Toilet" and inside was a western style commode and a small sink. Other Japanese homes and apartments also had separate bathrooms and toilets.

I need another of these with a closed lid.

Yeah! I either keep my toothbrushes covered or in a drawer. In addition to this, I ALWAYS put the lid on the toilet seat down, BEFORE I flush! The thought of putting a contaminated toothbrush in my mouth is a turn-off.

I love my mom for teaching me to store my toothbrush inside the mirror drawer. Honestly I find the fake laugh hilarious!

My sons mom saw something like this years ago and became positively obsessed with shielding her toothbrush. She won’t drink out of plastic either, only glass. Same sort of deal I think. If we start microscopically evaluating our world I think it would lead to total debilitation.

Maintenance didn't watch this video. Now everyone in our apartment tested positive for covid due to the apartment building having a sewage backup and one person in the building had covid. Now everyone who had backed up sewage in their toilet, and maintenance flushed with the lid open so they could watch.... Has tested positive for covid. Yay. /Sarcasm

Cause there are germs everywhere and only when we get a certain threshold of them or if the germ is a virus does it matter. People used to poop without tp, outside without washing their hands.

Flush with your foot, and turn as quickly as you can. I used to put toilet paper across the the seat to cover the hole, and then flush, but that seems wasteful nowadays.

this is traumatizing. the laughtrack made this seem like a joke or something satire and now im really not sure. but if this is true, how come we have never been taught ways to prevent this.

@@matteosposato9448 It’s rare that anyone gets ill from this though. It may be disgusting, but we’ve evolved to be able to filter out so much of this harmful bacteria. We just also happen to have evolved avoidance/ prevention instincts which include finding certain things disgusting like feces, vomit, phlegm, urine etc. So does it matter whether you close the lid? Not really, but on a psychological level it may matter to others, so it’s frankly good manners to close the lid, and of course no one likes the idea of bacteria from another person’s urine being on their bodies let alone their toothbrushes. And yet, we all use public bathrooms, because it’s pretty socially acceptable to be covered in invisible sprays of multiple people’s urine. Personally, I never flush with the lid open , now keep my toothbrush in my bedroom (where it doesn’t stay damp all day and night), etc, because that makes me feel more comfortable

Tooth paste is antibacterial. You're literally washing your tooth brush at the same time you brush your teeth. Once you reapply toothpaste it kills almost all the bacteria until you rinse it and allow it to sit wet, and then the remaining bacteria recolonizes it until you brush your teeth again.

Ok, I get that, but I see one major problem, that I can't find a solution in my head. I do my business, close the lid, flush. Ok, but... then I should open the lid and check, if I don't have to use the toilet brush? Then if I do, then I use it, close the toilet and flush again? So should we now open and close the toilet twice each time we go? Anybody sees another solution here?
