    Old generation (anything before gen z) really confuses me. Like do you actually pay attention to each other that much that you have time and mental energy to make eachother's lives worst with language? Just wear the funny shoes, nobody will care and if they do you should just explain to them that you don't want to have foot or back problems when you get older.

    Tie shoes have been shown to offer no benefit (or rarely actively harm) your foot. A better alternative that is currently being explored and expanded are shoes with a wide toe box; companies like Nike are now producing wide toe boxed cleats and it's likely that will spread to everyday/"athlesiure" style shoes.

    I love the handstand analogy. That’s what I use to explain to people who judge me for my choice of shoes. Imagine crunching your fingers up, and in the case of LeBrons feet, stacked your fingers on top of one another, and then try and balance? It just doesn’t make sense. Puts a lot more chronic stress on your joints that simply does not have to be there

  • @namehere4954

    @namehere4954

    The analogy doesn't hold as your finger to palm ratio is significantly different than toe to foot ratio. Your toes don't bend to the base of your heal where as your fingers easily reach the base of your palm. The comparison doesn't work.

    Minimal shoes with wide toe boxes do exactly this. Look up brands like Feelgrounds, Bohempia, Groundies, etc. But you also have to get over the mental block of them "looking weird" if that's the lone reason you won't wear them. Anything that is different is going to look weird at first. I thought they looked weird at first, then I wore them and got used to them. And I didn't care what others thought.

    That, or it's just more financially viable to not have to measure each person's individual foot to get the right toe spacing. The one-big-space-style shoe is easier to mass manufacture. But if it is a conspiracy, that's wild & genius

    Would this still be a video by you if peluva didn't pay for it? Like your right about how shoes are designed and what they ignore. But I honestly can tell the strength of your legitimate opinion, because paid interests are involved. Your motivations are obfuscated, and there was no unpaid video on this topic, so we can assume money prompted it. This is the problem with paid content, when you can hire a trusted face to say what you want, even in their own wording and associations. It's even worse than if the ad had nothing to do with your videos, because at least in that case, you know where your opinions are fully legitimate. It's not just a problem here, but this short particularly made me think about it.

    Valid concerns. I have the same thoughts when I see partnerships. I think the easiest way to tell if I actually like them is to see if I’ve worn them in the past WITHOUT a partnership. And you can definitely see they’ve been showing up in my videos for a while! The Strands are my favorite model.

    @@MovementbyDavid Yeah, you seem fairly genuine generally, it's part of your charm. It's just something to be cognizant of, in how you balance and represent those things, and how it draws focus towards your motives rather than your content. It's funny starting this chain though, because your content is already guinine historically, and there's probably a million other channels more deserving of this sort of comment/criticism. I think I felt compelled to write to you, not because you seemed untrustworthy, but because you're seemingly the opposite. We just don't want to lose you to the dark side anakin! lol

    I mean there is a reason most antique civilizations wore open footwear. Closed footwear was used mainly in the military, having padding on the top prevents some light injuries when dropping equipment like shields and swords. It also allows you to kick things with the end of your foot. But mainly it has the advantage of forcing your toes to stick together compressing themselves, so if you had an injury in one of your toes the compression exerted by the closed footwear would make the toe not move and the pain to be more bearable.

    shoes look like they look at the toe because it saves on material, helps protect your toes from getting snagged or pinched individually, and because not being able to see the individual outlines of your toes doesn't make it any harder to balance on your feet. And because it makes them look sleeker, and more clean in design

    My late grandmother was ESL and she told me that, in Castilian Spanish, there is no word for "toes." Instead, the direct translation of what they refer to toes with is "fingers of our feet." So, yeah, foot fingers is pretty accurate.
