Todos Los Tacos: The Chimichanga
Ойын-сауық
#ad What’s a chimichanga? On this episode of Todos Los Tacos, Francisco travels to Arizona, the state that gave birth to this deep fried burrito. He meets with Lili Palomino and her father Rubén at their restaurant Que Pasa for a tutorial on how the infamous dish is made. He then meets up with Jeremy Armstrong, owner of Afro Taqueria to see a soul food take on the chimi. He then goes head to head with former NFL player Rolando Cantú in a heated chimichanga challenge.

I just gotta say I love the sections where they conversed comfortably entirely in Spanish and there were just subtitles. Definitely more like that!

The smile on all the chefs faces when you take a first bite… makes my heart warm. Same smile from our elders when they prepared food for us 🙏 mexican food is so beautiful because its always a labor of love… ingredients that are rich in different ways 🙏

Any good cook or chef should be happy watching someone eat their food. If you haven't put love and thought and care into what you're making, especially when it's for someone else, then you aren't in the right place to be cooking.

Yup. I had the same look on my face when I was able to go back home and cook my little brother a birthday meal. I basically was in the kitchen the whole day preparing dishes. After all of that work, seeing him going back for seconds, thirds, and fourths until he just couldn't eat anymore is honestly one of the highlights of my entire life. If I do nothing else in this life, I can die happy knowing that I was able to do that for my little brother.
I could eat Mexican food every day and be so happy..

Same but it has to be real Mexican food, not that Taco Bell crap. Fish tacos for example, I can eat all day every day but my favorite of course is a fried chimichanga filled with carne asada.

Yup! Todos los tacos is my favorite series on Munchies and, just through rewatching episodes with an intent to learn the language, it has helped me understand/pronounce/speak it better which has resulted in me feeling more at home despite being so far away from my familu.
It's 7:16 in the morning and I am now craving a chimichanga. Thankfully I live in Arizona so I have 2 choices a mile away.
I felt like I was floating in a dream watching this, all the food looks so good
Paco is a great host. So polite and fun. Love him

Just subscribed! I'm from South Texas but worked overseas since 1985. I have lived in Thailand for 35 years and now retired. We live in Phitsanulok which is about 350 clicks North of Bangkok. It is a military and oil field town. My wife is about to open a new restaurant in a couple of weeks. I make sausages and other things as well as help her make local sausage. One of my son's supervisor, who is Mexican-American from California asked if we could make tamales. We have already gone through about 10 dozen. I have found sources for everything. Now Chimichangas has been suggested by both of our 2 sons. I'll be reviewing your videos. Appreciate the knowledge. Have a safe and great day!

My favorite munchies show
This is the coolest video that I have ever seen !
Chimichangas were ubiquitous in Tucson by 1979, so much so that they were on regular rotation at the UofA Med School cafeteria. So, the 2001 mentioned early on is waaaay off. That was my introduction to them, so I have no idea when they actually started.
What a coincidence… I just ate my first chimichanga for lunch today!
i can't put my finger on it but i love this host- he's chill and cool without being over the top
We need more seasons of this show both in Mexico and u.s because we are lacking in both countries. Man Cantu still looks like he can knock down some walls.
Francisco, gracias por todo el trabajo que tú y tu equipo hacen por estos videos. The people you find and interview and showcase are so awesome! I want to try all their food! If you ever come to the Central Coast of California, there are lots of awesome places here too! I will buy you a taco and a beer if you come! Gracias!
paco, como me encanta ver tu vídeos. eres tremendo host!
The chimichanga is great fresh ingredients looks great tastes great cooked very well.and having people for who can teach you their way to do things, that shows your love and heart and understanding who to do it right, and then with the desire to cook theirs no stopping you.
I just subbed for Todos Los Tacos. The moment that ends, I’’m sorry but we will have to part ways munchies. But as long as this is series continues we good 😂
I speak English and Spanish but this somehow breaks my brain how they keep switching lol and I do this when I speak myself!!!!
Next year the Chimichanga was invented in Tucson Arizona. One hundred years anniversary in 2022.

Jeremys portions looked insane
I first learned about chimichangas from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Heyyyy this restaurant is in Goodyear Arizona I literally live less then 5 minutes from it!!!
The one thing I always miss about the West coast.....Robertos taco shop. It's basically a fast food Taco Bell but leagues better, actually it might be an insult to compare the two. Anyway, I would always get their Chimichanga with carne asada meal after a long night of boozing with friends, it always hit the spot and they are so big you could have some for the next day when you're hungover and craving something greasy. IMO the chimichanga is the pinnacle of Mexican comfort food, especially when it's filled with steak.
