The baby was feeling/feeding off of the anxiousness of the adults. He had no idea he was in danger. Very scary. If the neighbor has an area of concern maybe this is an issue with the whole street if not the development.

@@jdos5643 You can pick any river in any third world country. Go ahead and think of one. On that river bank is some kid with a parasite that is eating out the back of his eye and/or brain. He or she is living in an actual hell on Earth; some trying to find food for themselves and/or their families, and some others are forced slaves, trying not to get taken advantage of in awful ways by adults. Here in the first-world, similar things are happening in slum neighbourhoods - with the exception of third-world illnesses of course. The world is and always has been much darker than good. I don’t think it’s necessarily something that was covered up during construction it could be a sewer line or some thing that caved in but either way it’s definitely something man-made and they need to be careful and photograph and document everything in case they need to file a claim against insurance or sue somebody else’s insurance down the line.

He doesn't know he was in danger, but he probably does know his mom was scared. Kids watch the adults in their lives and pick up on their reactions and emotions super easily; it's part of how they learn. So he probably was wanting lots of hugs that night, less because he was scared about the sinkhole, and more because he wanted reassurance that his mom was okay.
