Todd Phillips Explains the 'Joker' Bathroom Dance Scene | Presented by Vudu

Ойын-сауық

Director Todd Phillips dove into the meaning behind the pivotal bathroom scene in “Joker” during the Variety Screening Series presented by Vudu. Played by Joaquin Phoenix, failed stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck slowly transforms into the murderous villain in Phillips’ movie, which picked up 11 Oscar nods, the most of any film this year.

In fact Joaquin recently cited that as a reason why he feels uncomfortable about awards because he doesn't feel like did that all alone but instead though an amazing collaboration of many talented people.

The dance shows him not knowing how to feel about killing the two guys in the train, so he breaks out into dance. He’s shaky near the beginning of the dance unsure how to move but after he makes the hand gesture where he kinda makes an L, he accepts what he did and embraces it, you’ll see him become more confident in his movements and that symbolizes him officially losing control. At least that’s how I see it.

Joker social impact : During a Five Star Movement event in October 2019, Italian comedian and politician Beppe Grillo gave a speech wearing the Joker's makeup.References to the character were also found in anti-government protests worldwide. During the 2019 Lebanese protests, a group of graffiti artists called Ashekm painted a mural of the Joker holding a Molotov cocktail, and it was also reported that there was a Joker facepaint station at the protests in Beirut. In Los Ángeles, Chile, during the 2019 Chilean protests, the phrase "We are all clowns", which is adopted by Gotham City protesters in the movie, was written at the foot of a statue. In Hong Kong, protesters challenged an emergency decree prohibiting the wearing of masks by wearing those of fictional characters such as the Joker. On September 18, 2019, the United States Army distributed an email warning service members of potential violence at theaters screening the film . A separate memo revealed the Army received "credible" information from Texas law enforcement "regarding the targeting of an unknown movie theater during the release. However, according to Deadline Hollywood, the FBI and the United States Department of Homeland Security found no credible threats surrounding the release of the film. In an interview with TheWrap, Phillips expressed surprise at the backlash, stating he thought "it's because outrage is a commodity" and calling critics of the film "far-left".Phoenix walked out of an interview by The Telegraph when asked if the film could inspire mass shooters. He later returned to finish the interview, but did not answer the question.Following this, journalists were disinvited from the premiere at TCL Chinese Theatre, with only photographers being allowed to interact with the filmmakers and cast on the carpet. In a statement to Variety, Warner Bros. said that "A lot has been said about Joker, and we just feel it's time for people to see the film." The film did not play at the Aurora, Colorado movie theater where the 2012 mass shooting occurred during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises. Three families of victims, as well as the mother of a witness, signed a letter to Warner Bros. with the request. Additionally, Landmark Theaters has prohibited moviegoers from wearing Joker costumes during its run, while the Los Angeles and New York City Police Departments increased police visibility at area theaters, though they did not receive "any specific threat." As of February 2, 2020, Joker has grossed $335 million in the United States and Canada, and $736.7 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.072 billion. It is the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time,as well as the first R-rated film to pass the billion-dollar mark. In terms of budget-to-gross ratio, Joker is also the most profitable film based on a comic book, due to its small budget and little decline in week-to-week grosses during its theatrical run.

Animal rights group ends naked anti-fur campaign Avalanche buries dozens of rescuers British lawmaker shuts down trolls attacking her outfit US citizen and 8-year-old daughter flee coronavirus epicenter High-speed train derails in Italy, kills two (CNN)President Donald Trump's senior adviser Jared Kushner told CNN that if Palestinians can't meet certain conditions under the administration's Middle East plan, then he doesn't believe Israel should take "the risk to recognize them as a state." Kushner was responding to CNN's Fareed Zakaria, who challenged the President's senior adviser and son-in-law to explain conditions that the Trump administration plan sets for Palestinians before it will allow them to form a state. Zakaria pointed out that "no Arab country" currently meets the criteria Palestinians are being asked to achieve in the next four years -- including ensuring free press, free elections, guarantees of religious freedom and an independent judiciary and financial institutions that are as transparent as they are in the West. "Isn't this just a way of telling the Palestinians you're never actually going to get a state," Zakaria asked, "because ... if no Arab countries today in a position that you are demanding of the Palestinians before they can be made a state, effectively, it's a killer amendment. "For the Palestinians, if they want their people to live better lives, we now have a framework to do it," Kushner said. "If they don't think that they can uphold these standards, then I don't think we can get Israel to take the risk to recognize them as a state, to allow them to take control of themselves, because the only thing more dangerous than what we have now is a failed state." Those remarks prompted a sharp response from Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erakat who said Kushner had unilaterally decided what a peace settlement would look like. "What is left to negotiate? When I said these issues must be negotiated between us and Israel directly, Kushner responded by calling me a failed negotiator, unable to negotiate. He negotiated on my behalf because he knows better than I do what is best for me. This is the art of dictation, arrogance, and blackmail," Erakat wrote in a statement to CNN. Palestinian negotiators have not had direct contact with the Trump administration in more than two years and were not part of the plan's presentation, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended at the White House. The dancing was not believable at all. You don’t just decide to dance out fo the blue and dance like Mick Jagger even if you are crazy. There should have been more background explanation on that.
