Todd Field, Cate Blanchett, Nina Hoss & Hildur Guonadóttir on TÁR | NYFF60
Фильм және анимация
Director Todd Field, actors Cate Blanchett & Nina Hoss, and composer Hildur Guonadóttir discuss TÁR, a Main Slate selection of this year’s festival, moderated by NYFF Artistic Director, Dennis Lim.
The charisma and emotional precision of Cate Blanchett are put to astounding use in this deft showcase for the actor’s musical artistry, a stinging portrait of a world-famous orchestra conductor’s gradual unraveling that is the first film in sixteen years from director Todd Field (In the Bedroom, Little Children). A Focus Features release.

I think it's indiciative of how much respect Todd Field has for the cast and crew that he had the credits for this film play at the beginning of the film, not at the end.

Because he is the conductor of this film and the crew is his orchestra. That's why the names were formatted to look like an orchestra group.
Best movie I've seen in years. Bravo.
TAR is incredible to the point that I believed that it was a biography and the fact that the film is fictional shows the strength of everyone involved, as a massive operatic and symphony fan, I was enthralled by the idea of an insight into a maestro. Bravo
CATE BLANCHETT, A UNIVERSAL TREASURE! Bravo to the entire Team!
the way hildur guonadóttir speaks is so mesmerizing. i could listen to them talk about the physicality of music as an entity forever.
I read many comparing Blanchett's performance to Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood. And here we have Todd Field cosplaying as Daniel Plainview, neat.
Great director and great actress!
Great film great performance by Cate really enjoyed this film. Todd Field is a great director love all 3 of his films.
I can't wait to see this movie !
Great casting! I will see it again for sure!

I think you should do exactly that.
I am in love with nina since day one
I’m so glad that the stars aligned to see this project to fruition!
Brilliant, haunting movie! Bravi!
Basically an interview with a bunch of geniuses. Loved it so much. So looking forward to this movie! And Hildur...love her work. And to hear her articulate her process...😮❤❤.
Todd Field played Nick Nightingale the piano player in Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut.
Sophie Kauer is so friggin charismatic. Love her
Saw the film last night in Toronto. It's fantastic. A little slow in the pacing at times, needed a bit more exposition, but it's still great. Just glad Todd Field finally made another film!

It has 17 straight minutes of exposition disguised as an interview. I loved it. One of those movies you keep thinking about long after you're done watching it.

@@adamg4912 Yes absolutely... well disguised exposition the WHOLE film. It's almost so much about exposition, that you sometimes miss the action parts! For example, I completely missed all the symbolic shit about the maze in the book and in the metronome!
For someone likek myself who has not seen the movie Tar,this intervew is a wonderful insight. Can't wait to watch it. . Netflix you there? The actors look great
Oscar please
Nina Hoss is so sweet.

She is a fascinating human being and a first class actress.
I think it´s the first time I see they cut the interview so fast. It's such a great movie and it's also such a short interview! geeee
I can't wait to see this film ,and unfortunately I HAVE to wait until next february 9th!!!

Yes, she did use that word.
I can tell you from painful personal experience, this could be called 'Philip Glass played by a woman' - except that he has enough power that he'll always get away with it. He tried to destroy my career in order to cover up his personal crap, with such brutality. The emails shown in the film are almost verbatim of those he sent to people, I almost felt they'd stolen my story with this film - but I guess people who crave power have these narratives in common. I'm glad he did it in a strange way, because it taught me a lot about what I don't want to emulate, despite how shallow our culture is.

It's the first time I hear about Philip Glass in this way. I'm a little taken back, I listen to him a lot, I want to know more. Can you tell what you mean by his crap ?
Bette Davis would have been great in this role
What's wrong with the hat?
Todd Field is a genius. This movie pretended to be provocative, but merely trolled viewers.

That is an original point of view.
She should accept his compliment. Not very sympathetic to react like that. If you have had this success for 25 years, you should be able to see it that way. She shouldn't act like she's not up to par.

You're referring to cate right? I think she's just so down to earth and she also said she gets very shy when she's complimented by other people.

I think it is because of the other actresses on stage with her. She doesn’t want to take the whole credit specially when Nina Hoss (another magnificent actress) is seated right next to her.
Really loved this, but at the end, Hildur Guonadóttir has a whole lot to say about doing hardly anything...
@65g4

Are you saying composing a score for a movie is hardly anything. A great score can really make a movie. Thats a silly comment to say doing a score is nothing
@focuspulling
Жыл бұрын
@@65g4 Completely the opposite. It's widely known (and evidenced right there in the final cut of the movie, if you pay close attention) that the director decided to use almost nothing of the music she delivered, which was already barely composed and more in the direction of her video game sound designs that marginally qualify as music. The art and craft of composition is hard work, mastery of counterpoint and harmony, idiomatic writing for instruments, and more. Not writing ditties on synths for Xbox and PS4.
