First of all, club needed new players, regardless of Tuchel being a coach or not, so players that came in are long term planning. As for money being spent, I believe Boehly was obliged to invest at least €250m in the 1st year of his ownership, as one of the clauses in buying the club, so money was also going to be spent regardless of Tuchel. Todd Boehly might be a pioneer or is going to leave big stain in the Premier League. I can already tell that the decision to fire Tuchel is a very American way of managing sports team. I watch the NBA and it is crazy to see so many players move around during pre season and even in the season. Sometimes players don't even last a year at the club and they get shipped off. Boehly has to remember that there are 11 players in a football team, not 5 like in the NBA. It's not as simple as selling a player and buying a player and let them play their "role". Football is far more nuanced than that.

Players they are buying for pennies are selling for millions to others including us! EPL has always been dominated by foreign manager in the top 6. Before TT sacking, all top 6 teams have been coached by foreigners. Man UTD tried with David Moyes- it went terribly wrong. So did LFC with Brendan Rodgers. English coaches for the last decade have done great coaching mid-table teams and when appointment to top 6 , where demands are high, they fail miserably. @@ryanridout5669 With all due respect Fergie is by no way English, his Scottish, so you can't count him as a English great manager, Scotland has that right and not England. Canadians and Americans share the same language but there are distinctive traits between both cultures. Fergie is Scottish whether you like it or not. And I'm saying hire all Italian coaches because they've done great in England, I'm just pointing out the fact that English manager don't well in the top 6 where the stakes are and that's why I said I'm hoping GP can break that curse. I'm by no means overlooking the history but I have been talking about the last 3 decades or more. Which for English football it's not good, it should be 5 years max. Don't get wrong coaches fail from both spectrums but the argument was against English managers. Jose never failed at Man UTD, he won 3 trophies even it weren't the big 2 and his failure was due to Man UTD not Jose. It is difficult but you can't overlook the cold hard fact that English managers don't do well in the top 6 for last 3 decades.

A cynical comment that anybody can say. Look deeper, Tuchel was not showing good emotional stability since the Abramovich ousting period. He clearly wasn't coping well with various situations on and off the field, as well as some strange tactical decisions and poorly timed substitutions. He started so well, but it didn't continue, it didn't even level off; it just started to fall apart slowly. He was given a chance to get involved and change his ways, but he wasn't in the mood nor had he the inclination to do so. At least, that's how I saw it. As a result, he had to go eventually. The timing was unexpected, but that's their decision. They will either be proved right or wrong in due time.

What he's saying here is that Tuchel did not share his vision of the club which was for the head coach to be more of a coordinator while waiting for an incoming sporting director. Tuchel is more a coach than a people person. When his expertise is no longer the key thing the owners needed, they decided to let him go. They want someone who share their vision to maximise the different areas of the club to push the club to greater heights. Tuchel is more of a tactician that is focused on a rock solid defence but with defenders and goalies off form, he had problems delivering results and that limits the potential that the club can reach. I believe he is not a fire and hire owner unlike the previous regime.

Coach who wanted to 'collaborate' more like coach to do what he's told
Tuchel didn't agree on Boehly's suggestion of using 4-4-3 tactic...
Considering wage bill has gone down quite a bit with all the players who left or got sold/loaned out, I'm sure Potter will get a nice transfer kitty for chrismas😅

How had this worked out for you Todd ?
Todd Boehly might be a pioneer or is going to leave big stain in the Premier League. I can already tell that the decision to fire Tuchel is a very American way of managing sports team. I watch the NBA and it is crazy to see so many players move around during pre season and even in the season. Sometimes players don't even last a year at the club and they get shipped off. Boehly has to remember that there are 11 players in a football team, not 5 like in the NBA. It's not as simple as selling a player and buying a player and let them play their "role". Football is far more nuanced than that.

@@tunez4moodz34 the EPL was dominated by Sir Alex. Although not English, he certainly is not Foreign being a Scot. The majority of coaches have been from Italy, no where else. So you’re writing off history that goes from 1888 to 1992. The majority of coaches fail at the top teams, Emery failed. Jose at UTD failed. LVG failed. Grant failed. Scolari failed. AVB failed.

He was given a chance to get involved and change his ways, but he wasn't in the mood nor had he the inclination to do so. At least, that's how I saw it. As a result, he had to go eventually. Yeah he was talking out of his ass. "We want a manager who will collaborate with us..." Basically he's saying we want a puppet we can control, a yes man who won't defy us.
So why didnt you just sack him at the end of last season? Hes talking utter nonsense. You sacked him as soon as he lost 1 cl game after beating west Ham. Had he won that match you wouldve waited until he lost again to axe him. Why give him £300m investment and then sack him a week later? Crazy if u ask me
You buy Chelsea and started destroying it to zero just because of not signing CR7 and mbappe 😢
People underestimate Boely. He is going to be hugely successful and Chelsea will be a profitable acquisition. People got used to messing Roman's money Boely's money will be closely watched. His goals will be clear and his strategy will be well executed by a manager that is #well #aligned. Use Tuchel to get great players in. Get a manager with an easier ego to manage them.

Americans think that European football is just like their franchise games. No competition, no fear of relegation. It's a cultural mismatch of the highest order. It's not NBA, or MLS, for godsake.

This decision was made before Boehly bought the club. Seriously. You don't think Boehly had tons of data and personal references from everywhere TT has been? What picture do you think was painted of TT by that data from his former clubs, players and fans? This was the greatest and most golden chance of TT's career. His attitude and refusal to adapt on the field and in the board room are why he was fired.

@@gato69xxx56 Who says TT was driving that bus? We needed defenders. We got defenders. We needed some better punch up top, we got Sterling and Auba. You think this was TT's doing? Bottom line is, TT could still be at Chelsea if he could change. But TT can't change. He is rigid. And that is why he could not even try to adapt to the new vision that Boehly has. Try it with your boss, and you are toast too.

@@gato69xxx56 Gato, TT is as regular as the school bus. He wears out his welcome wherever he goes because he simply will not adapt. Not on the field, and not in the board room. The only party responsible for TT's sacking is TT. He should use this as a learning opportunity and seek to grow as a coach. I like TT. I just have 0 patience for a senior leader who rejects the CEO's vision and wants to do his own thing.
This chap hasn't got any clue about football and management
Not sure I wanna see owner's explaining their reasons for dismissing manager's, just put out to the press and leave it at that, besides sounds like BS to me
This guy has zero content about football managers.he is now regretting his decision.i won't be surprised if Chelsea finish 15th in the premier league this season
