Today: US blasts ‘aggressive’ China over South China Sea collision with Philippine ship.
The United States on Monday condemned China over a collision with the Philippines in the disputed South China Sea. The disputed Spratly Islands were the site of an incident early Monday morning when a Philippine supply ship and a Chinese vessel collided; both countries have since issued statements blaming the other. The new incident on Monday is the most recent in a series of clashes between the Philippines and China, which has prompted Western commentators to worry that the situation might escalate into a worldwide crisis if the world's leading power chooses to take more action against the Philippines.
