@@gregabott5583 The simple fact is, Anna's opponent is a GM, and never in a million years would he be expected to loose, no disrespect to Anna (and she agrees). With that, he clearly had a lot of headroom to play with... allowing him to give some very nice AAA advertisement to Anna's 'The Cow', something that had never been seen in a classic chess tournament. --> He was not disrespectful, quite the opposite, obviously. It was bitter sweet. For future reference, in the opening against the Cow, a strong Queen early is a way to break up the pattern, in conjunction with a central pawn. However, in that case, the Cow player can use knights to try to kick away a queen. Be wary of a scholar's mate. The Cow player should use his queen defensively early against an opposing aggressive queen, too..

Anna, you concentrated every move I saw. You knew you had to do that since your opponent, GM Platon has a very high rating, and this took up the time on the clock. You did not waiver and focused the entire time on every move. The aggressive style you had to try at the end was due to the time factor. You played a good game against, "The Cow," and you have nothing to be ashamed of in this game. The game was so good that even GM Hikaru Nakamura made a video on this, and liked this game!

Stockfish evaluates your position as better when you pushed the white king's knight back to f1 with your h pawn on move 6, and it has you up by 1.19 if you had played e5-e4 on move 7.

It’s an advantage to use the cow opening against Anna. Every time this happens she gets flustered. Also she has not seriously worked on theory to fight it. This opening she created is her own Achilles heel.

Now that is showing a female respect, a male GM playing a female opening. I hope he realizes that all mature cows are female. All mature males are bulls. Young cattle that are female are called heifers and young males are called bullocks or oxen. Young castrated males are called steer. So I think Anna did a remarkable job calling the her opening “The Cow Opening!”

Anna, I always enjoy the detail of your match recaps. On the game with GM Platon, I guess a strength of the cow is because it's such a slow opening that most of his pieces were still in the back to defend when you tried your attacks. Pia mentioned several times if only your King was on a dark square to avoid that white bishop of his. Hats off to you opponent for playing the full cow and not just a few of the opening moves. Good luck on your remaining matches! (By the way, beautiful video recap with you and all the chess boards and tables behind you).

Btw another bit here. Always develop a counter defence to any offensive weapon you develop before you use your new weapon. American military only started to use stealth equipment after they figured out how to defeat it. Try Story.

The opponent knows that Anna is classically trained and well versed in theory, so using the cow opening actually is kind of genius move actually. By moving it away from prepared openings, you lead the opponent down the "dark forest", a place where they aren't well prepared and must rely on instinct. The cow is really good at that because it is so far off regular bases there is no transpositions or just game experience. Which is why Anna can do it to other players when she plays it and wins, unfortunately the tables were turned on her.

Anna, if I may presume to observe, you were one move short in the preparation of your winning attack. Either you should have got the a6 knight to c7, or avoided putting the pawn on c6 at the beginning. Subsequently, after castling, you should have allocated a move to getting the king to b8. My father always taught me to be wary of the premature attack. It was a great and exciting game which I fully enjoyed.
