I'm a female, I absolutely love this song, not offended by this song at all. I often hear that women talk more then men, and I do believe that, in a lot of ways. I also heard a joke about how men die first to get away from women's talking/nagging.

Both my mom and dad use to use this song/lyrics when they thought the other was talking too much. They would say something along the lines of “I’m like Toby Keith, I wanna talk about me” when I was young.

When my husband uses that tone of "I hear you but I don't want to" I just keep going. Because I'm not really talking to him, I'm getting things off my chest. He listens when he needs to but if I'm just rambling on about stuff that I have to get off my chest and he has no interest in, I think it's kinda sweet that he just pretends to care just so I can unload :)

We've always been super honest and open with each other and I told him very early, "sometimes I just need to rant and ramble on" and he made it clear he would listen but he wouldn't care unless it was something very important. And that works well for the both of us :)

oh I have sort of the opposite feelings. I hate when people aren't listening and if I can tell ill just stop talking. But if don't realize I prefer people to cut me off and say "I'm not listening". Idk i guess talking is really had for me so id prefer to not waste my time.

Toby Keith was so creative and entertaining. I loved him.

I am not offended by this at all. My husband feels this way at times, I'm sure.

Toby's "Red Solo Cup"! Either the live version or the studio. Both are hilarious...maybe both back to back. It won't be a waste!

Billy's already done "How Do You Like Me Now?" If you want to see it, just search for that song under Billy's KZread homepage. But Trailerhood would be pretty cool. Almost no one reacts to that one. and Trailerhood's video is awesome. Toby taking away the alcohol from the kid at the end always makes me smile.

Blake's record label at the time didn't think it would be a good debut single for him & I agree. *Austin* was perfect for Blake.

I'm so glad you reacted to this one! It's one of my all time favorite Toby songs. When it came out my brother asked me if I wasn't upset at the message of the song. I told him how could it? I have friends just like that. Plus it's such a great song how can you hate it?

I was looking forward to it because I know the song well & knew just when you'd get it! Blake Shelton wrote the song & he was under contract to Bobby Braddock. Blake was set to record the song, but staff at the record label felt it was "unsuitable to release as a lead-off single." Blake gave it back to Bobby who gave it to Toby; the rest, as they say, is history! 😁

I love this song!! I raised 4 kids, 3 of which were boys. It was important that they learned they had a voice and it was ok to use it. It was ok to have emotions.. yes anger is an emotion guys so quit saying your not emotional!!! I always asked about their day, what was happening in their lives, school/work, gf, and so on. I always ask with my husband also. 2 of the 3 sons are married and I can still have those kind of conversations with them even at 30 and 24 years old!
