Thanks for the breakdown! I've been going back and forth with these two, and will have to do a demo with each. The fact Toast requires a 2 year contract and Square has no contract is a big aspect of where I'm leaning.

Being a small coffee trailer, I love/hate Toast. Idk if you've used Toast, but the nickel and dime game is STRONG, I feel that the mention of being upfront is inaccurate. Toast wants to charge a monthly fee for every single little add-on. KDS, Xtra Chef, customizable online ordering site, etc. Ridiculous. Also, the "closed system" sucks. Toasts processing fees are HIGH, API is generally closed so 3rd party apps are limited (they have a large selection but largely useless IMO, but I am a small operation). I love the interface of Toast, menu building is nice, ease of use if generally good. I'm heavily thinking of moving to square for my needs, primarily because I want a KDS without paying the ridiculous 165/mo Toast charges.
