Thanks for that. Very useful tip. I changed my tyres yesterday. Now I'm going to the garage to get that spanner out and undo those nuts! 😀

Great video thanks. Have a CRF 125 and the tire slipped on the rim so that's why I'm researching.

that's pretty cool. after 45 yrs of changing m/c tires and they've always worked fine, the tube comes with 2 nuts i always left the one on the tube and the other nut i'd lock the valve cap is all. so i buy some cheap 22 dollars no name heavy duty tube, changing because a nail flattened the last tube, i fit it and ride less than 10 miles, and i get a sudden fishtail going about 50mph and make it to the shoulder, valve core pulled out. just junk. oh and the bike being a big powerhouse, not, came from the factory without front or rear rim locks, the bike is cb400f ss 1976 ridden it since 80' one motor broke a ring, motor i had the back for 35yrs uncovered, carbs off, had less than 1000 miles on it, put it in one night changed oil and rode it to work the next day 90 miles one way. it's still sweet.

I just had a new tube on two months, one nut on inside one nut tight in outside against rim. Tube valve was ripped almost clean off and flat tyre of course. Just searched and found this video to see his it’s supposed be done. Will be putting two lock nuts 5mm above the outside rim next tube.

I always leave bottom nut on then snug top nut down till pressure achieved then back off the top nut some and make sure you keep a snug cap on there and the top nut has no where to go

You tighten that nut when the tire is at max pressure and I GUARANTEE you will rip the valve stem where it's vulcanized to the tube, eventually.

I did tighten mine and it ripped right around the valve after two months. I put one nut tight on inside one tight on outside. Next new tube I will put both nuts locked about 5mm up the valve stem is that right?

@@jaffasoft8976 I don't see the need for an inside and an outside nut. Keep the nut loose until you pump up from a flat and then once there's some air in the tube and you can push on the air filler with ease, loosen the nut. Once there's some air in the tube, you don't need the help of the outside nut.

Yep, I just asked the local motorbike repairs shop and they don’t use a nut inside just loose on the outside or wound up and locked. They installed a wheel lock on back wheel they said that should stop it. Pinched the tube trying to get ya new tube and tyre over the new wheel lock can’t win atm. 4th flat type in 4 months.

What do I do if my tube keeps getting a hole at the valve stem on my dirtbike

  • @jeremywentworth4752

I would be checking your room lock. It’s also sometimes people running really low tire pressure can allow the tire to slip on the rim and rip the valve stems off of the tube.

Great info! Next question though, do you put the other nut on the inside of the rim? Every tube I have has two nuts on it. I’ve also seen a few brand new bikes where one nut is on the inside. Thanks for the video!
